Welcome to the University of Chicago Privacy Office

The University of Chicago Privacy Office provides guidance and resources to help navigate regulatory obligations, University policies, procedures, and ethical principles pertaining to use of personal data. Our goals are to support mission-driven activities, uphold the University’s core values, facilitate solutions, and support and enhance a culture of compliance and ethics.

The Privacy Office also advises on compliance with state, federal, and international requirements regarding the protection of personal information, in keeping with ethical standards and the unique demands of an academic environment.  We collaborate closely with units, departments, data stewards and users across the University, the Office of Legal Counsel, and the Information Security Office to address data privacy concerns and to safeguard personal data held at the University.
