Seems to be a nice game 👍But why oh why do I have to press the FIRE button when I want to jump?
I know there are fewer and fewer people who know what a Joystick is and only know gamepads, but it would be cool if you could add a "C64 mode" with normal input to the game 😉
Ahoi Captain
Thanks a lot for your nice comment. But I have to disagree with your "complaint" ;). I dare to say that 99% of people prefer the fire button to jump. It assures exact control over the jump while moving. I understand that once familiar with Joystick up, it is difficult to learn the other way. But "normal" IS fire button. Think of the early arcade games like Donkey Kong: "Jump button makes Jumpman Jump". This is how platformers are meant to be played. Anything else is simply a compromise owed to only having 1 button on standard Joysticks and has nothing to do with gamepads. So I hope you can also find the fun and challenge in Timo's Castle learning the right way to jump. :)
If not let me know and maybe I can make you a special version for your convenience.
This is definitely a masterpiece, as well as a great tribute to Henry's House. Love the difficulty, the attention to detail, and, of course, the majestic '80s feel. You got it exactly right! Still figuring out the optimal way of finishing all the levels.
Thank you, and keep up the good work!
Thanks Galadh for this wonderful comment. We have many more future plans up our sleeves and the restriction of 64k won't stop us from making them happen :)
💖💖💖
Love it!! Congratulations on a quality release - thanks for your hard work :)
Glad you like it. Thanks for your nice comment and support! <3.
Thanks gagemr <3
Very good game and great music. I also added it to my new "Gameplay of New C64 Games from May 2024" video.
Thank you! Great to see many new high quality games for the C64.
Thanks for the 1.1 update! Nice to see those small fixes added. I must admit that I also found "Load game" confusing :)
You're welcome. And yes - lesson learned: for next time we will hire a professional C64 UX Writer ;).
😄😄😄
:D
Very nice and innovative platform game with some funny references. Our German-language review can be found in our recorded livestream starting at 00:42:56. There is also a longplay starting at 04:39:07. English subtitles are also available. Subscription to our YouTube and Twitch channel is welcome. 🙂
Thank you. But I need to point out that you reviewed the game based on a "cracked" version, which might not exactly reflect our version of the game. But thanks anyway.
This looks amazing but I will have to wait for the NTSC version! Hope it's out soon!
Thank you <3! And yes, I'm on it. The NTSC update will be out very soon.
Great to hear!
NTSC version added to the download file pack!
Did u get it?
Beautiful effort! A real love letter to the original Henry's House game. You've captured the spirit perfectly and it plays like a true modern-day sequel, but still retains the old-school charm! I think it's great! Thank-you :-)
Hi Kevin! Thank you so much. Nothing prepared me better to this than taking part in the Reset64 4kb 'Craptastic' Game Compo in 2022. Learned a lot that way. I hope I can also take part this year. Long live the C64! :)
What a wonderful comment. Makes me really emotional. That's the moment when you realize how much joy you've brought to the track and that all the hours and effort have paid off. We are not at the end of the journey.
Timo's Castle is now listed on Lemon64:

Thank you for all the Buzz and positive comments so far. We will try hard or even harder to make our next game just as much fun.
A very good game 😁👍
Please more titles of this type 😎✌️ Of course, the game will be described in K&A Plus.
Greetings
Retro Chlop K&A Plus 😎✌️
Thank you. We'll do our best <3
There´s a bit of lag in the video. Dont look fluid, like the game is. Anyway thanks
Perhaps it is the fault of the program that tests. Anyway the game is very smooth with no lag 😊
What a lovely game. A friend of mine played it:
Thank you Tanja. It's always fun for us to see new player's first steps. Be assured: your friend will be able to run through level 1 in no time.
Yes, I think he can do it too. I believe you immediately... 😊😁
Hi ! this is C64 Masters !! I am here to help you in publishing your games if you want. If you to publish al least a demo please let me know and email me at : c64masters2020@gmail.com Cheers !
Hi. There is no demo. We´ve puplished a lot of videos to see the quality of the game. So if u like to do a video you just have to buy the digital release. Cheers.
When do the raffle winners get their Steam keys? Already sent email addy as requested on announcement page =)
Yours and another winner's e-mail ended in the gmail spam folder. Sorry for that. Will send it in the next minutes.
Got it.
Thank you again!
Looks awesome! I was really hoping to purchase the boxed edition. Unfortunately, it's priced too high. I'm sure the cost of the media and box itself is material, but I can't justify spending that much in contrast to the vastly lower cost of the download-only version. Where can I find a coupon code 😉? Hidden Easter egg embedded in the downloadable version?
Very cool. Played it a bit; feels nice and responsive. One thing though: the collectable objects are sometimes very hard to see; especially the grenades (?). Could do with better contrasting colours with the various backgrounds (yellow maybe?). Also deserves a few more levels I think. Congrats on the release though! :)
Haha. Thank you. The "grenades" in the Castle Garden are meant to be pine cones.
Ah
As promised on FB, here is my longplay. I absolutely loved playing through this game. A journey back to my childhood when I played HH, only even better!
Congrats. Nice play. But this was only the beginning. Try to reach > 50000 Points. It can be done, but you have to be fast.
Certainly, but I'm satisfied with the over 47000 points for the video ;)
Any way to get the physical edition in Europe? Seems kinda weird having to import it from the UK :D
Bitmap Soft is looking for a solution to address this.
Happy release day! Thanks once again for letting me play the game for my community last Wednesday.
It was a pleasure to watch!
You guys have an a4 sized ad for the game?
Hello BrewOtaku. Not just yet but is on our to do list. Why do you ask?
we are printing Brewotaku #002 the next days and we like your efforts ;)
We're on it :) - What's your mm size for the bleed in regards of the printing?
just make it exact a4. Ideally english for the reach. Our software will add the bleed. When you are done, feel free to mail brewotaku at brewotaku dot com
The preview of the A4 Ad looks great now.
After loading the game in VICE from D64 or PRG the floppy drive light is flashing red constantly. But after saving the highscore it stops. No errors, just thought I'd mention it.
EDIT: Nevermind, I tried pixelbrei vice settings and I think it was only my config that did it.
That's valuable feedback, thank you. It would be no effort to put the initial high score file "HI" already onto the disk. At the same time I need to investigate, why the error code "No file found" is not handled properly. It shouldn't keep blinking.
Demo?
There are a lot of YouTube Videos for Timo's Castle to make up your mind. And Joystick control is top. You can't go wrong on this one.
1st level Demo? :)
Do I gain access to commented source code if I buy It?
This is not an option. Sorry.
Awesome game!
Thank you for taking the time to make that video!
I just wanted to buy this but when I have to fill out 30 fields of data to be able to do it this makes me reconsider.
Thank you! Do you refer to the digital download? What payment method did you choose? What country are you from? I also have the expectation that this should not take more than 2-3 clicks. I will need to buy the game for myself to see what you are presented with. Sorry for the inconvenience.
Seems this buyers form was only required for EU countries. When using VPN outside EU it was no longer required and the purchase was instant.
Eine schöne Homage an Henrys House! Für mich bisher das Spiel des Jahres 2024. Schön bunt und mit toller Musik untermalt. Meine absolute Empfehlung!
Good job! https://c64universe.wordpress.com/2024/05/01/timos-castle-2024-roman-werner/
Thank you!
I checked, review for Zzap has been fully completed (intro and all opinions) so expect that in the next issue at end of May.
Woohoo! Can't wait to face the verdict of the suprime court ;). Thank you Mayhem and the rest of the Zzap!64 team.
This is awesome. Thank you Team Zzap!64 - cant wait!
My review video to coincide with today's release of the game:
Thank you Harald. Such a nice review!
Only ten hours to go... 🏰 😱
WHEN?
On May 1st, 10:00 AM (CET).
Only two more sleeps 🛌💤💤🏰
Will the physical version be a cartridge?
You have the choice between Cartridge or Floppy Disk :)
Cartridge AND Floppy Disk! You can have it all...
Why PAL only ?
Don't worry... NTSC will follow later. When you buy PAL, you will also get the NTSC version in a later update. We want to take the time to make sure an NTSC version feels just as much fun as the PAL one. Not just a rushed "doesn't crash" adjustment.
too much drivel in this sales pitch. the trailer and it's voice are especially grating. too bad, because the game actually looks kinda good.
what's absolutely NOT good however, is your idea of selling this game, in fact it's a complete train wreck. get rid of the "geschwafel" (german word for blah blah) - just tell us you made a game, what it's about, and it's features, not some vague hints on some old ip you didn't even care to mention.
tl;dr:
i could have written a better sales pitch with my eyes closed, this is not how you do it. good luck, you gonna need it.
the game: likely a solid 7.5/8.0
all the rest: swiss cheese -10/10
Haha. Thanks. We'll hire you the next time.
wow! you are extreamly rude , somebody ever teach you manners?
You don't have many friends, do you?
All the best with the game. Is each screen a level, or are there multiple screens for the 8 levels? Also, do you have any difficulty level selection to extend the gameplay further if someone wanted a harder challenge?
Thank you 🙏 . It is one screen = one level. What you see is what you get. Compact fun! We tried to make a game that everybody can eventually play through. That's why we implemented next to normal mode an easy mode for kids and beginners.
More challenge comes with beating the high score: Time bonus gives more points the faster you complete a level. Speedrunners welcome 🤗.
The new character Timo looks very cool and retains the "feel" of Henry. Well done. I am very much looking forward to this game.
Thank you very much tygerklawz. We also fell in love with our new hero!
very good
I‘m very excited about this release. I like platformers, I like HH and I like Roman. 😄
Awwww... Thank you! The other two are very nice guys, too.
Amazing Roman.. Good luck with the game, and hope the release goes smoothly!
Thank you Hayes. This is all very exciting. Bitmap Soft is a perfect fit for us. They are professionals. We feel very relaxed with them.
You had to pick the name of my father, huh? Well... No fault of yours, it's a common name and I'll happily support you both financially and however else. Henry's House is in my top 5 of all time and I've been waiting for something like this for at least three decades. Glad to see you got it sorted out without having to go through a bunch of licensing-hoops and what-have-you-not. =)
Haha. Timo IS a great name. No question about that. Thank you for your support and all. We really appreciate it. All the earnings will go back into more C64 games development. A good investment for sure.
I am very intrigued to see the final release of the game. I hope all goes well with it.
Thank you Richard <3
