Mental health, just like physical health, has to be managed effectively. We made our commitment to being a mental health confident organisation in 2018. As one of the first organisations to sign up to the Mental Health at work commitment, we have a range of initiatives in place. We are committed to upskilling colleagues to protect and enhance their mental fitness, on how to spot signs of mental ill health and to build their confidence in appropriate ways to support others.
Gain access to a suite of resources, whether that’s learning from experts as part of our Healthy Habits Series or taking a break from your working day with Mindful Moments. We also offer a variety of interactive courses and guides on topics like mental fitness, mindfulness, resilience and more.
Get specialist, confidential support if you have a problem that’s affecting your physical or emotional wellbeing.
You can discover a network where exclusive mindfulness sessions are led by colleagues, for colleagues, across our global network.
Body
Staying fit and healthy is an important part of looking after your wellbeing. That’s why our resources offer advice on making healthy choices on sleep, exercise, nutrition and fitness. We offer a range of resources and benefits to help you feel your best.
We provide health checks to help colleagues better understand their health status, and offer guidance and supportive resources to prevent disease, manage conditions or recover from illness
We’ll help you to be your best at work by offering adjustments, such as removing barriers you might face if you have a disability, impairment, health concern or mental health condition.
Outside of the on-site gym access at several Barclays sites, we provide support with gym benefits as part of the Employee Discount Scheme.
Social
From enjoying opportunities to express ourselves to making new connections, it is important that you feel valued and have a sense of belonging at Barclays. At Barclays you’ll have access to a diverse range of colleague networks and opportunities to make a difference in the communities we serve.
We have 13 Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) aligned to our Diversity. Equity and Inclusion agendas. These aren’t just about finding like-minded colleagues, but also being allies to communities of people so that we can cultivate a more inclusive and supportive culture.
From volunteer days to fundraising, you can make a meaningful impact to the communities we serve by taking part in Citizenship activities.
And if you’re passionate about sports, arts, culture or anything in between, you can join one of our social or sports clubs. These have always been a foundational part of life at Barclays… dating as far back as 1892 when the Barclays Dramatic Society was founded.
Financial
We’re committed to helping you manage your financial wellbeing, providing you with educational resources, including tools for debt management, budgeting and planning, protection against risks, and more.
If you need financial support, whether that’s dealing with debt or buying a house, you’ll be supported with practical guidance and signposts to additional support resources, as well as access to our confidential Colleague Financial Assistance team (UK) to support financial difficulty
A key aspect of financial wellbeing is paying you fairly for the work you do. Fair pay doesn’t just mean paying the right salary – it means awarding the right incentives, providing the right benefits and giving the right support in the workplace as well.
Workplace
We pride ourselves on providing you with the tools and support so you can bring your whole self to work. We want colleagues to feel able to talk openly at work about any sensitive wellbeing topics, so that they can get the support they need when they need it.
You’ll be encouraged to look out for others and make that a priority at work. Practical resources such as interactive team health and wellbeing workshops are available to help everyone get the best results when working together.
We provide the opportunity for all our employees, globally to work flexibly – empowering you to work in a way that suits your life as well as enabling us to better service the needs of our customers and clients.
We work closely with our People Leaders to create an environment where health and wellbeing are valued and supported. We offer all people leaders dedicated training on practical ways to lead their teams in a way that protects and enhances colleague’s mental and physical health.
Be you, be valued, belong
