Edward Moore "Ted" Kennedy (22. februar 1932. -25. august 2009.) bio je američki demokratski političar. Ispočetka poznat tek kao najmlađi brat predsjednika Johna F. Kennedyja, od godine 1962. kada je izabran u američki Senat je počeo graditi samostalnu političku karijeru. Nakon što je godine 1968. ubijen njegov stariji brat Robert F. Kennedy postao je najstariji i najugledniji član porodice Kennedy, a s vremenom i neslužbeni vođa lijeve i liberalne frakcije demokrata. Vlastite predsjedničke ambicije je godine 1969. prekinuo skandal vezan uz incident u Chappaquiddicku, a godine 1980. se bez uspjeha borio za predsjedničku nominaciju svoje stranke. Otada se potpuno posvetio karijeri u Senatu gdje kao drugi najstariji senator uživa ogroman ugled i titulu "Lav senata".
