Alpha Condé (born 4 March 1938) is a Guinean politician. He became the President of Guinea. He began his term as President in 2010. The president before him was Sékouba Konaté.[1] The news reported he may have been bribed by a mining company.[2]
Condé was arrested and removed from power on 5 September 2021 by members of the Republic of Guinea Armed Forces.[3]
On December 9, 2022, the US Treasury published a list of more than forty personalities targeted by sanctions for acts of corruption and human rights violations. Among the targets of the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC), the financial control body of the Treasury Department is Alpha Condé.[1].
