A downloadable Visual Novel for Windows and macOS

Another betrayal was unsurprising in your life, but you never expected the consequences to be like this.

Sacrarium Pario is a short visual novel that focuses on the interactions between a down on their luck mercenary (name and pronouns customizable) and the living gods they were always taught to be wary of.

That mercenary expected to die or be sold on the black market after being betrayed by a confidant. No one in their right might have anticipated the living god, Violo to take an interest in them. Now, each day is a matter of survival. Violo's fascination is infamously mercurial, and his eternal companion, Vivere, is not pleased with sharing his lover's attention. Death looms overhead.... but so does the threat of finding the men beneath the monsters.

Will they survive? Will they escape? Will they stay?

That will be up to you.

The demo was made for Yandere Game Jam 2023.

Ugh this game is amazing! It's almost impossible for me to put to words on how much this game has mean for me, and I'm excited when the game is finished! (it's currently been my hyper fixation for a dead set while now)

I don't want to ramble too much, but my only issue is there's been a small bug? Where during the scene with Violo and his father, choosing the option of: "Are you alright?" Immediately follows up with, "The flower circle created a ring that had Violo's study in the center." No dialogue of how he reacted whatsoever, compared to the other options.

Everything else i chose the middle option for choices.

But, if I were to choose all of the last/ good options, it'd actually have dialogue.

(+4)

Yes, that's on the list of things that will be fixed within the next update ^.^

(+6)

I've very excited for this game to be done. I played the demo I believe around a year ago, and while I was a bit sad its not finished, I'm glad to be around knowing it may finish in the next few months. Take care of yourselves!

(+3)

I cannot express how much I'm in love with this concept. I was so thrilled so see the project is still in the works and hasn't been abandoned.
Keep up the good work at your own pace!

(+1)

This is absolutely amazing. I just finished the demo, and I am absolutely in love with Violo and Vivere!!!

(1 edit) (+1)

i just finished playing the demo and i loved it, but I was so confused when the game ended abruptly when I reached the end of the demo. But it is still a very good game, it did take me 6 hours just to finish the demo, kind of scared of how long it would take me to finish the full game when it's out

(+3)

I'm absolutely addicted to this game, I really do hope that this isn't dropped or anything :(

(+4)

It isn't :D

(+1)

YIPEEE!! also I was also wondering, will the full game would cost money?

(+5)

No :) As this was a volunteer project, there aren't any contracts/agreements in place for financials, thus I will never charge money for the game or have the "pay what you want" feature toggled on. Also, since these games are made in a short time span (each game is supposed to have only about 3-6 months of active work on it - IRL issues getting in the way not withstanding), they don't quite reach what I deem 'professional quality' (aka: something polished enough I feel comfortable charging money for).

(+5)

Honestly I think Gelus and Pario are professional level games. They're well made, with lovely art, music, and even a little voice acting sprinkled in between. You guys put in a lot of effort, so I personally believe that you should be allowed to accept money when you're spending so much time to make sure these games are good quality. Stay safe out there

(+1)

i agree !!! :')

(+20)

Read trigger warnings, installs immediately.

(+11)(-1)

such a cool game omfg!! absolutely love the story and the art. also ive never wanted to be sandwiched between 2 people so bad my god!

(+9)

oh god im addicted to it

(+15)

*Y E S* I  LOVE JTHEM, I LOVE THE STORY, I LOVE THE GAME INGENERAL, I WOULD LET THEM CANNABALIZE ME AND WOULD APOLOGIZE IF I TASTED BAD

Violo is very orange cat coded lol, I wish I could find more fanart/any fancfics of them but I cant find any and none of my friends know this game when I talk about it T^T

the dialog is delicious, and the art is very edible (in the best was possible. I want to put them in a terrarium and watch them)

(+8)

i LOVE your intensity

(+2)

LMAOO

(+9)

Really loving this game, beautiful storyline and characters and looking forward to more, please and thank you!

(+8)

this game is incredible, I love navigating a fraught lover's quarrel with death or eternal torment on the line, Violo and Vivrere as well as the other characters are flawless. Both endearing and likable while being distinctly inhuman in outlook and inconveniently human in emotion. I can't wait to see what the full game holds and to maneuver the poor mercenary into being the tiebreaker for two codependent immortals!

(+10)(-2)

I really enjoyed the game and I hope the creator feels better soon. I liked the worldbuilding and the mc characteristaion. I do wonder what would happen if an MC did something they didn't like or stayed a while and then wanted to leave. I personally have questions about some of the trigger warnings (as it the specific kind of thing that gives me nightmares - eaten alive, piercing, and limb removal and transformation ) so I hope to see spoilers before I play. I also really enjoy the background art like alot. So yeah. hope the creator is doing okay

(+7)

my first comment ever just to say that I love it ! I frankly have nothing more to point than other people haven't already, and funnily I started with this one before realizing Gelus was a thing (and it left me less confused than I first was, obviously)

just two points :

1. The Gods sucks

2. that is mere curiosity, but is there any plans for Amare & Necare to eventually get their own games ? that's what I've been wondering for a whole month 😭

(+6)

I crawl out of my hole multiple months later to confirm that yes, Necare and Amare are planned to get their own games.

My IRL situation went to hell for a while, so progress is slow in general. Once Pario is finished, I will finish the mini sequel set a few hundred years later (The Woeful Rose & The Bitter Crow) and then start tackling Necare's game!

There’s a few typos I found that I’ll list here:

Otherwise, the game was so wonderful I spent days thinking about it afterwards and begging for the full release!!! I’m typing this comment merely because of my love for the game–not dislike.

This is my second time playing, that’s how much I liked the game and why I can spot typos better now.

“If you had gone off to make a bunch of babies, your bloodline would persist with this anomaly.” - Violo

“I sat down with a sigh, realizing they’d put me between them again.” - MC

There’s probably more, so I’ll update this, but again, THANK YOU!

Bold words mean the corrected word, in the original there’s a typo.

I LOVE YOU STYGIANEYE!!!! Off to playing your other games to deal with the post-game (demo?) depression.

(+5)

Thank you so much! As I was injured \right before the jam was closed, we weren't able to do a proper final pass over the script one more time, so I'll make sure to note these corrections down for cleanup.

This is just the first bit of the game. I'm working on the rest, but I've been focused on recovering from my injury and dealing with writer's block. I will finish this game. It's just slow rolling at the moment while I tackle real-life shenanigans. I've made some progress though, which I hope is good news ^.^

(+2)

I’m so grateful you replied :D (Looking back, my comment sucked and made little sense, so I hope that’s alright.)

I’m so sorry you got injured, I hope you’re better now! And it’s totally alright to deal with writer’s block, but I’m sure whatever you end up publishing will be worth it. You inspired me quite a bit to write my own visual novel, so I completely understand the feeling of writer’s block.

With that off the table, I hope real life isn’t being too harsh on you! The game is already perfect, and I love Violo and Vivere so much (and the little Easter egg in Sacrarium Gelus), so I’m excited to see how the game will end. Your characters feel very real, humane. Hopefully there’s a tab in the full game for side stories ;p!

Anyways, final runthrough and here’s a list of noteable things in a text document because there were quite a few tiny ones. I hope I didn’t come offensive by pointing at these silly things! I’m sorry if I’ve wasted your time and this ended up pointless, but if I can help in any way, I’m glad.

Link to the document. I’ll update it as I go on! :3

(+1)

(Please tell me if I should continue the list or leave it at that. I don’t mind scanning through the entire demo if needs be :p)

(+2)

Oh no no no. You weren't being offensive at all. I do truly appreciate the extra assistance with it. Bug reports and typo reports are very important for in-development VNs, so I make sure to note all of them down as they come in. That way I can get them during clean up. Your words are very kind as well, so really thank you ^.^

(+10)

Goddamn I spent the entire early morning playing through this demo and my only real criticism is that it abruptly ends without warning that this was the end of the demo, however I did enjoy having learn a bit more about the world and both Viola and Vivere. I remember in the Sacrarium Gelos that I was asking if it was possible to explore more about the world that both Hemios and MC lived in and good lord did this demo give a beautiful world building exercise without overloading the player.

Not only that but learning about Viola and Vivere and being able to see the pieces that they wish to keep-- It's honestly conflicting in a moral stand point, but at the same time what they're doing could be classified as some sort of good action, and Viola himself shows to have suffered irreperable trauma. Honestly, just seeing how they interact with MC and each other is just fascinating, but not gonna lie when both Viola and Vivere interact, there is something so damn tender and gentle that it honestly feels wrong to intrude on them. I like how the poly route is conveyed because often it can be a bit difficult to write respectfully and without it being weird.

I kinda wanna learn more about MC, especially their mercenery background and the trauma they had to go through (imagine the amount of betrayals they had to go through throughout their years). That and I'm getting inspired just seeing this skittish MC learning to love from Viola and Vivere despite the two of them also having two loose screws, they at least know how to be comfortable to show their love while MC, I imagine, would be so restricted and hesitant with irrational thoughts. Just angsty thoughts HEHEHEHE

Anyway, looking forward to what comes next! Good luck with the development and take care!

(+6)

Can't understate how enchanting this demo is: I've found myself entirely charmed by these comical and complex living gods. Really looking forward to the eventual full release to see how the relationship between them and the MC develops!

As a short aside, really like the world building! Really had a sense of the world (or at least as our MC sees it.) Kudos, and thank you so much for sharing.

(+5)

they're so cute, I wanna kiss them both<33 i can't wait for more of these two!

(5 edits) (+9)

Violo and Vivere are such complex, unhinged, sweeties. Bless them.  I ended up loving them much more than I had expected to ( and I already loved them based on their designs alone :'). Your artist's character designs always seem to tickle my fancy. Keep them, please!;> ).

I won't lie, I'm very eager to see the mc fall in love with Violo and Vivere. Given mc's own personal history and their values, they would suit this pair so well, that mc falling into a warm/positive relationship with them just feels natural, like it was meant to be. I enjoy how it doesn't feel like the mc is an "intruder" that "barges" in an already established relationship, if you manage to balance their affection. I also love how you managed to portray the characters as more loving, affectionate and supportive with a mc that has won their affection ( heck yeah, love me yanderes who go fully dere, instead of fully yan, when interacting with their loved ones! they are the best and most difficult type to pull off.)

In short, what I'm trying to say is that I'm honestly very impressed with how well the poly romance dynamic was written to work here. ❤️ Amazing job! Can't wait to see this being updated!

p.s. since I haven't seen anyone comment on this, I had to bring some compliments to the voice acting. Voice acting, even partial va is a hit or miss for me. For Sacrarium Pario, it proved to be a great immersive addition to the reading experience. I found that both voices fit their respective characters, and both use the right intensity and emotions in the lines they voiced👏. So great job vas and the dev that cast them!  (p.s.2 Just wanted to add that Violo's humming, was so haunting when I first heard it, but now, after finishing the demo, I can't help but find it a tad endearing, lol.)

(+6)

This is soooo aamzing!! I can't wait to see more <333

(+3)(-1)

this is a bit off-putting/unusual to ask, but out of pure curiosity, when was transphobia shown in the game? i tried to avoid the mentions of it in my first play through but after getting a few other routes, i have had yet to see it, as a trans man myself.

(+9)

It isn't in yet. All of the warnings for the full release are included to prevent people from getting attached via the demo only to not be able to play the full game due to the content warnings. So, not every warning exists yet.

The transphobia warning is specifically related to when Violo opens up about how his family treated him, and that scene is further down the line.  I can't say exactly when since the game is undergoing a resequencing at the moment, but Violo can mention it in high affection play through when he feels secure enough to be that level of vulnerable.

(+2)

ohhhh alright, thanks dudes

(+10)(-1)

As someone Poly you would not believe how happy this game has already made me! I daydream about it constantly haha I'm fairly excited to see where the story and the relationship between these three will go, keep up the great work!

(And here's to them somehow magically figuring out Air Conditioning to fix those stuffy hallways hahaha)

(+9)

Great so far, but I did find a bug: in the scene where you meet "father dearest" if you ask if Violo is okay, it skips the subsequent conversation and jumps to you exploring again.

(+7)

Huge fan of the game! loved every minute of it! But I did come across a bug where it says Image 'viere acthappyt' not found. Not sure if it's just on my computer or what but keep it up!

(+4)

Thank you for noting this! It's a code typo for the displayables, and it's something I do need to fix.

(+4)

absolutely amazing game! adore it. i'm in love with those two and sightly scared but great work. i truly can't wait for the full game!

(+4)

I just want to say amazing game so far, and looking forward to the seeing what comes next. Just to clarify will we have to pay for the full game? I really like the lore and characterisation, and hopefully won't have too many nightmares lol

(+2)

No. Entries in the Sacrarium series are always intended to be free.

(+1)

Ok thanks for the clarification

(+9)

is it bad that i kinda want mc to stay with them>

(+4)

A wonderfully thought out game from the magic system to consistent lore, every corner had me invested in the story. I can't wait to play more of this.

(+3)

this game is amazingly written :0 the developers are so talented their characters' are so fun and interesting 10/10 can't wait for a full release :]

(+2)

They have fun personalities.

(+4)

I haven't gotten to the end yet but this game was beautifully done. It's really immersive and addicting so far. I'm not sure if i like Violo or Viere more yet. 10/10

(+3)

Omg, I cant wait for the next up

(+5)

I'm SUCH a fan of this demo!! I loved Sacrarium Gelus and it's so fascinating to see more of Violo & Vivere. Definitely a bit different than I expected from Gelus, thanks to Heimos's opinion of them--but in a good way. I'll be eagerly awaiting the full release(:

(+3)

Hello! Loved the demo, these two literally have me in a chokehold. I love both of them, but I do have a question. My game seems to suddenly cut-off when Violo and Vivere start bickering over who gets to spend time with the MC. I'm not sure if this is intentional or not. When I checked if I got the ending it says its still not unlocked.

(+5)

That is because that is where the demo ends. It is impossible to get an ending currently, as they do not exist in the game.

(+3)

I see, thanks for the reply! Cant wait to see more! <3

(+3)

i was wondering why the vibes of this game were familiar till i saw tht this was the same ppl who made sacrarium gelus!!! i absolutely love it!!!! n i like how the 2 are somewhat connected with each other!!!! the writing, character, music, perfect!!!! o((>ω< ))o looking foward for the full game!! (and maybe some of your future games!!!) <33333

(+1)

I can only seem to download the demo? is there a way to download the full version? or is it not released yet

(+3)

Only the demo is out for now.

(+3)

will you die if only one ends up liking you?

(+4)(-1)

Depends.

If they're both neutral, you can avoid death by being careful.

If only one is high while the other is neutral or low, the consequences can be death or fates worse than death.

(+2)

oooh interesting but confusing and concerning lmao, excited to see more ehehe :)

(+1)

So is it always going to have to be you have to be in a relationship with both of them, instead of a triad situation?

(+6)(-1)

Yes. Their personalities make it impossible to only be with one and not the other.

(3 edits) (+4)

I loved the demo a lot, the characters are very endearing, the story is really intriguing and the art is breathtaking.

While I am glad I found and played the demo, I think this will be it for me since I am quite monogamous haha. But I 10000% recommend it to people who are not or don't mind romancing both at the same time, the game is really enjoyable and even more for poly people I'm sure :)

Edit, 3 days later lol: Sooo, this is kinda funny, but I went back and replayed everything (first time I played was at 4am, so I didn't digest all the details). Somehow, I started appreciating a lot more the relationship between Violo and Vivere, I had definitely liked it the first time, but I came with a new understanding after the replay.  Beforehand, I had gone into the game having already made up my mind that "I'm monogamous, so I probably won't like the romance as much", which I think ended up hindering my first playthrough. The second time, I went into it with a more open mind, and I'm so glad I did. I ended up not really being bothered by the polyamorous aspect at all, I actually love the kind of dependent relationship that comes with Viola and Vivere. For the longest time they have only had each other as a source of companionship and support, they're two complicated souls that are cut off from normal socialization and cling onto each other.

While in the beginning I would've preferred they had separate routes, I can understand (and I actually like) why this is just not an option, they're dependent lovers that care for each other more than anything in the world, an outsider just can't get rid of it. I like that they truly care for each other's opinion, even if at first it looks like Violo dismisses Vivere's. I like how only towards a mutual interest in the mc can the relationship truly happen, I've read the creator's comments and I completely understand them better now (the whole "both or neither, but never either"), it just really makes sense.

I also like the dynamic that the mc brings to the table. Violo and Vivere have only had each other for the longest time, neither of them is really knowledgeable on healthy coping mechanism or other social aspects that come with living in a society.  I like that the mc can sometimes give their two cents and help them with internal conflicts and worries (even trauma, thinking of the scene with Violo and his 'father'). I also appreciate how organic it feels when Vivere is warming up to them, it did not feel forced, and I love that not at any point of you having caught both of their interest made them feel less like a couple themselves. But at the same time, the mc does not feel like an intruder at any moment, maybe a tiny smallish bit a the beginning when Vivere hasn't yet warmed up to you, but after it just feels like it makes sense, y'know? Honestly, the writing on the relationships caught by by surprise a bit, it's just that good.

And so, apparently I'm gonna stick with this game for a while lol. I'm glad I gave it a second chance and got out of my comfort zone (the whole poly thing), because I've found two of my new favorite characters in a good while, I grew to love them so much more, especially because of their relationship with each other.

Also, this is just a small error I found during my second playthrough, but the morning after the mc goes to the dungeons down the stairs and Vivere comes to visit there's an "image not found" error. It's not a big deal, but I thought I'd mention it in case it might help haha.

(+6)

(This comment has spoilers so please don’t read if you haven’t played!)

I didn’t expect this VN to be as long as it was so by the time I got done, the sun had already went down lol. I got absolutely drawn in and immersed in this story. I love the universe and the bits of lore we’re given over time was so good. The idea of the waters being red around Pario was really neat and unsettling. That combined with Violo’s entrance made me feel uneasy for what was to come (which is what I live for in horror). As much as I wasn’t sure what to expect after you’re taken in (especially given the warning list), I found myself kinda forgetting about the more disturbing aspects of Pario the longer into the game I went into. As I saw Violo and Vivere begin to warm up to the PC, I was like damn, am I getting stockholmed syndromed myself? After the big reveal with the PC and with them saying it will be safer with them, I began to wonder if they were telling the entire truth. Mainly because I found myself believing them 100% and which then led to me wondering if that’s a good idea lol. Also I love the hard spot that potentially puts on the character now that they’re aware the gods are trying to kill them after having already reached out to help. I can only imagine how Violo and Vivere might react if you tell them about that after they’ve already warmed up to you. The dynamic between Vivere and Violo was something that I really liked and thought was funny and wholesome at times. I think I laughed once I realized Vivere was venting about Violo just a few moments after being a little scared at seeing what was probably a small extent of Violo’s power in the sword fight before.

After the game ended on my first playthrough, I had to remind myself that Violo and Vivere are described as yanderes but damn, I was thinking how sweet a lot of moments were. They were sweet enough to apparently forget about the literal flesh monsters that Violo created that roam about on the regular lol. That was something that left me feeling conflicted a lot as it shows Violo doing a lot of horrible things but as time goes on, Violo only seems to do horrible things towards truly awful people so it doesn’t seem to be something he does out a sadistic glee (maybe) but then again, his methods are horrific. But he’s a god and it doesn’t feel entirely out of the ballpark for a god to do things like that soooo... Learning that and coupled with the moments with Vivere where it feels peaceful (like the garden where it looks so nice and pretty with the flowers) and Violo’s reaction towards his father really had me forgetting about the horror stories that are told in the beginning of the game. I also didn’t choose the more antagnizing options so that also probably explains why I thought a lot of moments were sweet. I don’t think they’ve really shown much yandere tendencies towards the player except maybe two moments that I feel like is hinting towards what the future will hold. Like with Vivere saying he doesn’t like sharing his things in a seemingly joking manner whenever you ask if you’ll be free in the future and Violo's kinda overprotective reaction to you simply falling when you trip over your chains. I was absolutely eating that up. I guess all of this is to say that I really love the way this VN had me feeling. I love the uneasiness at the beginning, the conflicted feelings towards not knowing if I can exactly trust these two because they seem like they’re being honest but it’s just the two of them vs me and they kinda got a reputation, but maybe it’s not as bad as the stories make it sound? Either way, I was loving almost every scene and I’m excited to see what the future holds! (sorry if this was really long, I was very excited after finishing the game about all the future possibilities :P as you can probably tell lol)
