This event, organized with the Oslo Nuclear Project, provides an opportunity to discuss the paper “Public opinion on nuclear weapons: is there a gender gap?” authored by Ellen Willio and Michal Onderco and published by UNIDIR in the edited volume From the Margins to the Mainstream: Advancing Intersectional Gender Analysis of Nuclear Non-Proliferation and Disarmament.
Based on an extensive review of academic articles and opinion polls, the authors will present an analysis on gender and public attitudes towards nuclear proliferation; nuclear weapons use; nuclear arms control and disarmament. This initial presentation will be followed by a panel discussion exploring the implications of this research for nuclear advocacy, policymaking and scholarship.
