Mapping Internationalization on U.S. Campuses

​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​Conducted every five years, the Mapping Internationalization on U.S. Campuses study assesses the current state of internationalization at American colleges and universities, analyzes progress and trends over time, and identifies future priorities.

It is the only comprehensive source of data and analysis on internationalization in U.S. higher education, and it includes two- and four-year, public and private, degree-granting institutions.

2022 Edition

Mapping Internationalization on U.S. Campuses: 2022 Edition shares the top-line findings from the 2021 Mapping Internationalization on U.S. Campuses survey, which was organized around the six key areas of the ACE Model for Comprehensive Internationalization: institutional commitment and policy, leadership and structure, curriculum, faculty support, partnerships, and mobility. The 2022 iteration of Mapping examines information from 2016 to 2021 and is distinctive because of the unique circumstances and time frame in which data was collected; relative to past years, the COVID-19 pandemic made internationalization efforts extremely difficult for our institutions. While the data identified areas of decline, it also showed notable resiliency in many areas that are highlighted throughout the analysis. This report also includes findings about respondents' perceptions of the future of internationalization.
