Instructions for testing

Audacity 4 alphas

AU4 Windows
AU4 macOS
AU4 Linux

Audacity 4 alpha versions are unfinished at this time. This means that some buttons may not do anything yet, or placeholder items be used. Things which work may go back to not working and back again – these builds are extremely unstable.

At present, we don't accept bug reports for these builds, with the exception of the following categories:

  • Crash reports
  • Data loss (eg opening a project in AU4 corrupts it)
  • Recording trouble (if it's a regression on AU3)

You're free to discuss and ask questions about these builds with us on our dev discord though.
