School types
Organisation of Austrian schooling is determined by age and maturity, different aptitudes, purpose in life and career goals in accordance with section 3 of the School Organisation Act. Pupils and parents are to be informed of the various school types’ responsibilities and requirements and, particularly in the 4th and 8th grades and before completing a type of school, of the further education recommendations according to the pupil’s interests and ability.
A distinction is made between general and vocational education.
