Campaign group settings

Last updated: 5 months ago

Campaign group settings act as limits for all the campaigns placed in the campaign group. Campaign group settings include the group objective, budget, and schedule.

Important to know

You can’t edit a Default Campaign Group.

Group objective

When group objective is turned on, all campaigns in the campaign group will automatically use the selected objective. The group objective can’t be changed or turned off after the campaign group is launched.

Group budget and schedule with Dynamic Group Budget

If you select a group objective, you can turn on Dynamic Group Budget which automatically and continuously finds optimal auction opportunities for your campaign group’s objective.

When you turn on Dynamic Group Budget, the budget, schedule, and bidding strategy are selected at the campaign group level and apply to all campaigns in the campaign group. You can’t set a budget or schedule at the campaign level when creating campaigns in the group, but you can set a bid amount if you select a cost cap or manual bidding strategy.

When selecting a budget and schedule, you can choose to:

  • Set a daily budget that runs continuously from a start date.
  • Set a daily budget with fixed start and end dates.
  • Set a lifetime budget with fixed start and end dates.

You can’t turn off Dynamic Group Budget after the campaign group has launched, but you can edit the budget, schedule, and bidding strategy.

Important to know

When Dynamic Group Budget is turned on, you can only select Sponsored Content formats when creating campaigns in the campaign group.

Group budget and schedule without Dynamic Group Budget

If you don’t select a group objective or turn on Dynamic Group Budget, you can choose to:

  • Run the campaign group continuously from a set start date.
  • Set a start and end date for the campaign group.
  • Set a start and end date with a budget for the campaign group.

If an end date or budget are set at the campaign group level, all campaigns in the group will stop running when either the end date or budget are reached. You can also set a start date, end date, or budget at the campaign level to limit individual campaigns in the group.

Minimum campaign group budget requirements

When a campaign group total budget is set, a minimum unspent amount must be available to launch new campaigns. You’ll be prompted to edit your campaign group total budget if you try to launch a new campaign in the group and there is not enough unspent budget available.

Each campaign group needs to have an unspent budget of $100 USD, or equivalent currency, to launch a new campaign.

Example: If your campaign group has a current total spend of $450 and your campaign group total budget is $500, you currently have $50 in unspent budget. To launch a new campaign, you’ll need to increase your campaign group total budget to $550 to have $100 in unspent budget.
