Add your photo with screen reader support

Last updated: 4 months ago

A good photo adds to the visual impact of your LinkedIn profile and helps your contacts know it’s really you. This topic tells you how to use a screen reader to upload your photo to your profile. We have tested the topic with JAWS, Narrator, NVDA in Microsoft Edge, VoiceOver, the built-in iOS screen reader, and TalkBack, the built-in Android screen reader which adheres to common accessibility standards and techniques. Different screen readers and web browsers might behave differently.

Important to know

You must be signed in to your LinkedIn account. You need a photo of yourself that is stored on your device. For iOS and Android, you need a photo of yourself that is stored in the Photos folder on your device.

Note: For best results, it is helpful to have a photo ready before you start. That way you can have it taken by a friend or a colleague.

To add your photo with screen reader support:

  1. To open the Me menu on the LinkedIn homepage, press the Tab key until you hear “Me button, collapsed,” and then press Enter.

  6. To browse the items list, use the arrow keys. To open a folder, press Enter when the focus is on the folder. To return to the previous folder level, press Alt+Up arrow key. When the focus is on the photo you want, press Enter. The Edit photo pop-up window opens.
