Sharing Libraries

- [Instructor] There are times when you may want to share the contents of a library with members of a team or distribute the contents to other people. Photoshop has two different ways to do this depending on the amount of control you want over the assets in the library. The first thing that we'll do is select the library. Then, we can click the "Invite to Link" icon, or we can select from the flyout menu either "Invite People" or "Get Link." We'll start with "Invite People." This is going to take us to the Creative Cloud desktop app and automatically display the invite window. Now, don't worry if your desktop app doesn't look the same as mine because Adobe often updates the app. In order to invite someone, we just need to enter in their email, and we can add an optional message. Then, you can determine if they can edit the library or if they can just view the library. Once you click to invite the person, the person will receive an email where they can accept the invitation, and as soon as they accept it, they'll have access to the library. Now, the owner of the library will see an icon for the recipient in the library panel, and as the creator of the library, you can choose to cancel the sharing of the library at any time by clicking on the X in order to remove the person, and as the recipient, you can choose not to collaborate anymore by just leaving the shared library. It's important to note, only the owner can delete a library, although, if you give someone access to edit the library, they can modify the contents of the library. So the other option would be to use the flyout and choose "Get Link." Again, it's going to take us to the Creative Cloud desktop app, and again, the recipient of the link has been given one of two options. The "Allow Save to Creative Cloud" means that anyone with this link can save a copy of your library to their account and then they can make edits to the content. The "Allow Follow" means that anyone with the link can follow your library, they can use the assets, but they can't edit the library. Then, all you need to do is copy the link and then send it to the recipient. You can also start within the CC Desktop app and share your libraries. I'll back out of this library, go to Files, and then we can see our libraries. We can then use the three dots in order to invite people, to share, to export, rename, and delete a library. If you're looking for inspiration, we can click on the stock and marketplace icon and then choose Libraries, and then choose to follow any number of free libraries. Finally, when you create a library, assets are copied to the cloud and a local copy is also created, and this local copy is available if you go offline. Then, if you're offline and you make changes to the library, those changes will be automatically synced once you go back online. So that's how easy it is to share your libraries either for collaboration or to share through a public link.
