Limit disruptive changes when updating and adapting the AI system’s behaviors.

When updating the AI system, consider the scale and rate of changes. Conduct user research to understand how changes may disrupt or impede the user.  

When doing model updates, avoid introducing new errors for tasks where the AI system previously performed well. Use tools such as Backward Compatibility to check for such errors. 

Use Guideline 14 design patterns to update the AI system cautiously, considering the scale and rate of changes:

• G14-B: Immediate, partial, non-disruptive updates
