Planning to add anything to your recently created items?

Hey, just wondering if you plan to do anything with all the recently created items you have made with nothing but a ELSTAT code? [1116 This listing] shows that there aren't many properties being used with these, so I'm not sure what value they are adding to Wikidata yet. Looking at your non-mainspace contributions, I'm not seeing any community discussion for the bulk creation of these items. If there's some ultimate plan for all of them, it might be an idea to share that plan. —Tom Morris (talk) 15:53, 17 November 2015 (UTC)

Hi,

Yes, I plan to add more properties. All entities with an ELSTAT code will eventually get an instance of some subclass of administrative territorial entity of Greece claim, plus the appropriate Property:P131 and Property:P150 claims. Also using the ELSTAT code as key, it is possible to add certain statistical data (i.e. population) available from geodata.gov.gr, ELSTAT and other reliable sources,

I took the initiative after a discussion at elwiki. I wouldn't mind to share the burden with others, on the contrary, but due to the semi-manual nature of the input it would require knowledge of greek and some programming skills. To make a long story short, I turned a xls document with the ELSTAT codes for every administrative entity to a xml tree. Then I wrote a firefox extension that allows me to drag eithet a wikilink (when the administrative entity has a (el) wikipedia article) or just the name to the related xml tree node and then call the Wikibase API.

It's not as simple as it sounds, and I keep tweaking the code. But once I finish the insertion of the ELSTAT code (currently 6500/20000 aprox.) I will ask for a bot account because the other stuff can be done without any human supervision.

Το έχω υπόψη μου, και γίνεται εφόσον υπάρχει ο σχετικός βικισύνδεσμος στους καταλόγους των περιφερειών. Για εκείνους τους οικισμούς που έχουν λήμμα αλλά όχι βικισύνδεσμο, θα τα αναζητήσω μέσω του dump του elwiki κάνοντας την, ελπίζω εύλογη, υπόθεση πως στο σώμα του λήμματος του οικισμού Άλφα στον νομό Βήτα περιλαμβάνεται η λέξη Βήτα P.a.a (talk) 20:46, 18 December 2015 (UTC)
