Implementation of the textile waste sector education methodology in the educational process of schools to support the fight against climate change

The aim of the project is to build a partnership between organisations concerned with the environment and the effective improvement of activities to combat climate change, focusing on the issue of textile waste as one of the factors of environmental degradation. The objective is to highlight fast fashion as a negative element that through its activity degrades the environment and contributes to climate change. The aim of the project is to reach as wide a target group as possible, in this particular project it is a group of pupils at the level of kindergarten, primary and secondary schools and education with a focus on textile waste sorting. Textile waste is currently under-promoted in green projects and green schools. By creating a quality educational process, lecture cycles, we can reach a very wide group of pupils, where, within the framework of targeted educational actions, we can achieve changes in their attitudes towards this type of waste, especially their shopping habits, their perception of fast fashion as the largest producer of textile waste and also the impact on the environment. The main objective will be to build habits of sorting textile waste and preventing its unnecessary generation at school age, at the level of kindergartens, primary and secondary schools. The involvement of a foreign partner and a partner from Slovakia will lead to the co-creation of an important educational tool in the form of a documentary film, to implement the main idea of the project also to the target group abroad, where this education lags behind other educational activities of sorted waste separation. The main objective is effectively linked to the project's stated priority of the environment and the fight against climate change.

AND AT THE END A FEW INTERESTING FACTS

INTERESTING FACTS

One pair of jeans will hold 8000 litres of water and one T-shirt 2500 litres. So it's worth thinking about - how many jeans and T-shirts do you have in your closet? And approximately how much water flows just to make your clothes? And that's just you. One person out of over 7 billion.

5.8 million tonnes of clothes are thrown away in the EU every year ! Of this huge amount, only a fraction is recycled and the rest goes to landfill. With a figure of 5.8 million tonnes, the reason why clothes need to be recycled becomes very clear .
