[edit]Inherited from Proto-Slavic *teťi (stem *tek-), from Proto-Balto-Slavic *tektei, from Proto-Indo-European *tékʷ-ti ~ *tkʷ-énti or *tékʷ-e-ti, from *tekʷ- (“to run, flow”). Cognates include Lithuanian tekė́ti, Latvian tecēt and Sanskrit तक्ति (takti).
