    From Proto-Hellenic *-mə, from Proto-Indo-European *-mn̥, with the oblique stem -ματ- (-mat-) from Proto-Hellenic *-mət-, from Proto-Indo-European *-mn̥-to- (seen also in Latin -mentum).
