MARINE CORPS BASE HAWAII, KANEOHE BAY (Jan. 18, 2006) -- Mounted underneath the F/A-18A+ Hornet, the Litening pod is being used by Marine Fighter Attack Squadron 112, Marine Aircraft Group 41 during a Hawaii Combined Arms Exercise taking place the month of January. Litening is a precision targeting system which amplifies the pilot's ability to accurately deliver live ordnance to ground targets. Based out of the Naval Air Station-Joint Reserve Base Fort Worth, Texas, MAG-41 will be providing transport, refueling, and close air support for 3rd Battalion, 3rd Marine Regiment, who is training for deployment to Iraq.
