The Spam-whitelist page is used in conjunction with the Mediawiki SpamBlacklist extension, and lists strings of text that override Meta's blacklist and the local spam-blacklist. Any administrator can edit the spam whitelist. Please post comments to the appropriate section below: Proposed additions (web pages to unblock), Proposed removals (sites to reblock), or Troubleshooting and problems; read the messageboxes at the top of each section for an explanation. See also MediaWiki talk:Spam-blacklist.

Please enter your requests at the bottom of the Proposed additions to Whitelist section and not at the very bottom of the page. Sign your requests with four tildes: ~~~~

Also in your request, please include the following:

    1. The link that you want whitelisted in the section title, like === example.com/help/index.php === .
    2. The Wikipedia page on which you want to use the link
    3. An explanation why it would be useful to the encyclopedia article proper
    4. If the site you're requesting is listed at /Common requests, please include confirmation that you have read the reason why requests regarding the site are commonly denied and that you still desire to proceed with your request

Important: You must provide a full link to the specific web page you want to be whitelisted (leave out the http:// from the front; otherwise you will not be able to save your edit to this page). Requests quoting only a domain (i.e. ending in .com or similar with nothing after the / character) are likely to be denied. If you wish to have a site fully unblocked please visit the relevant section of MediaWiki talk:Spam-blacklist.

Note: Do not request links to be whitelisted where you can reasonably suspect that the material you want to link to is in violation of copyright (see WP:LINKVIO). Such requests will likely be summarily rejected.

There is no automated notification system in place for the results of requests, and you will not be notified when your request has a response. You should therefore add this page to your personal watch list, to your notifications through the subscribe feature, or check back here every few days to see if there is any progress on it; in particular, you should check whether administrators have raised any additional queries or expressed any concerns about the request, as failure to reply to these promptly will generally result in the request being denied.

    Completed requests are archived, additions and removal are logged. →snippet for logging: {{/request|1234544552#section_name}}

Note that requests from new or unregistered users are not usually considered.

Notice to everyone about our Reliable sources and External links noticeboards[edit]

If you have a source that you would like to add to the spam-whitelist, but you are uncertain that it meets Wikipedia's guideline on reliability, please ask for opinions on the Reliable sources noticeboard, to confirm that it does meet that guideline, before submitting your whitelisting request here. In your request, link to the confirming discussion on that noticeboard.

Likewise, if you have an external link that you are uncertain meets Wikipedia's guideline on external links, please get confirmation on the External links noticeboard before submitting your whitelisting request here.

If your whitelist request falls under one of these two categories, the admins will be more willing to have the source whitelisted if you can achieve consensus at one of the above noticeboards.

Jeraxmoira, I think I've done this correctly. Please let me know if I've screwed it up, I am newish here and not the best at anything technical. Valereee (talk) 10:48, 10 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Valereee, this is my first time here as well and I am able to add the link now. Thank you so much! Jeraxmoira🐉 (talk) 11:06, 10 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

    Request re: dyingscene.com/archive/album-review-good-riddance-peace-in-our-time/[edit]

Link requested to be whitelisted: dyingscene.com/archive/album-review-good-riddance-peace-in-our-time

The above link is an album review of Peace in Our Time by Good Riddance, by an unnamed reviewer from Dying Scene. I wanted to cite this webpage on the album's Wikipedia page, but it appears that Dying Scene's website has been blacklisted, and I don't think they have any print publications or alternative websites where the same review can be found.

I'm not sure where the right area to search is if I want to find information regarding Dying Scene's blacklisting; I searched the noticeboard archives and couldn't find anything there about it at all. (I also didn't see it mentioned on the Common Requests list.) I don't know why Dying Scene has been blacklisted, but if it has been blacklisted due to containing unreliable information, I think this source might be OK as an exception because I don't intend to use it to uphold objective facts about the album or band; I only intend to use it as one of several reviews from other websites and magazines to discuss the album's critical reception. (I also intend to quote maybe 1-2 sentences of the review's text.)

If it's still not OK, that's fine; I'll see if I can find other reviews :)

(Also, I apologize for leaving out the https:// at the beginning, but it wouldn't let me add the link to this request form without removing that part. Afddiary (talk) 02:12, 10 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Link requested to be whitelisted: linktr.ee/allstarwrestlinguk

All Star Wrestling are using this as their new official page. The old "Superslam" site is kaput. I tried to update the link in the infobox, but hit the filter. Please replace the Official Website link in the infobox on the page as that is their official site now and I can't really tell them to change it for Wikipedia's sake! www.result.pk/colleges/quaid-i-azam-university-islamabad.html[edit]

Link requested to be whitelisted: www.result.pk/colleges/quaid-i-azam-university-islamabad.html

    Hello,

I am requesting the removal of the specific URL "www.result.pk/colleges/quaid-i-azam-university-islamabad.html" from the blacklist. The URL provides valuable information about Quaid-i-Azam University Islamabad and would be a beneficial reference for relevant Wikipedia articles.

The information on this page is factual and provides useful data on the university's programs and impact. Allowing this URL would enhance the quality of the information available to Wikipedia readers.

Thank you for considering my request.

no Declined We will very rarely whitelist sites at the request of zero-edit accounts. The page in question is utterly mundane and not the sort of think I'm even convinced it's useful to link to at all. * Pppery * it has begun... 02:38, 12 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

    americanlibraryuk.wordpress.com/2018/01/05/book-review-the-strip-by-stefan-al/[edit]

Please whitelist this link which is a book review I am using here. According to https://americanlibraryuk.wordpress.com/about/, this WordPress blog is maintained by the University of East Anglia scholars at American Library. At the bottom of https://www.americanlibrary.uk/, there is text saying "Connect". Below the "Connect", there is a list of logos including a "W" logo which links to https://americanlibraryuk.wordpress.com/ which verifies the connection.

Please whitelist the link the entire subdomain of https://americanlibraryuk.wordpress.com/. If this is not possible, please whitelist the link https://americanlibraryuk.wordpress.com/2018/01/05/book-review-the-strip-by-stefan-al/. Thank you, Cunard (talk) 12:34, 13 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

The fact that you were able to link to these pages here shows they're not actually blacklisted, right? And I was able to do https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=The_Strip_(book)&diff=prev&oldid=1234285933 without any errors even though admins aren't generally exempt from the blacklist.
You seem to have instead triggered Special:AbuseFilter/1045, which is only a warning and does not prevent you from saving. Feel free to bring up whether certain subdomains should be exempted from that filter at WP:EFN * Pppery * it has begun... 15:24, 13 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for the correction. Special:AbuseFilter/1045 doesn't seem currently to exempt any subdomains. So since this does not prevent saving, the current state is fine. Cunard (talk) 07:17, 14 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

    Webpage on mcafeetaft.com[edit]

Hello! The following link has been blacklisted because it contains the string mcafee. The block is not related to this website or page in the first place, and this would be a useful link to supplement the sources at Robert Spoo. www.mcafeetaft.com/copyright-authority-robert-spoo-joins-mcafee-taft/

While we're at it, why are all links containing that string blacklisted in the first place? As illustrated by this, many of them have no relationship to why the block was imposed in the first place. Thanks in advance, BhamBoi (talk) 01:15, 14 July 2024 (UTC) [reply]

@BhamBoi: plus Added to MediaWiki:Spam-whitelist. That string is blacklisted because of repeated attempts to insert fake links into the article McAfee. --* Pppery * it has begun... 01:19, 14 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

    A specific page of academicjournals.org[edit]

    1. That is the only page I've found that gives the full article. The summary does not mention 'soda lake', my ref is for p. 78. + the only doi i've found (in the banned page) is wrong (try it below). The ref is: Fayissa, Zelalem Dessalegn (May 2015). "Photosynthetic productivity and biomass of phytoplankton, in Lake Kuriftu, Ormia Region, Ethiopia". International Journal of Fisheries and Aquaculture. 7 (5): 71-80 (see p. 78). doi:10.5897/IJFA14.0462.
    2. It would benefit the page on soda lake (work in progress in sandbox) (can also be used in Algaculture and a couple of other associated pages).

Hello. I opened quite a few of these "linksummary" links. Can't make head or tails from these. So i just googled " what's the problem with academicjournals.org " (because i like it simple, tyvm). Got this: "Academicjournals.org – Academic Review Spam?" (by Henry Farrell on August 9, 2011). Now that raises suspicion - enough so that I don't care what date it is, some stains don't wash up; so definitely not want the whole site to be whitelisted and much regret that i can't find a more honest site giving the full article for free. I just need that one article to be available in full. If someone finds it elsewhere, all the better. (And maybe a doi that works, while i'm at it - don't ask, don't get.) Thank you for your attention. Pueblo89 (talk) 21:49, 14 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

The reason for the blacklisting is MediaWiki_talk:Spam-blacklist/archives/February_2019#Predatory_journals, calling the site a Nigerian mill churning out climate change denialism and other crap. And it's on Special:AbuseFilter/891/MediaWiki:abusefilter-warning-predatory. Make of that what you will. * Pppery * it has begun... 22:21, 14 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
