Parenthetical Remarks

[edit]

There was an inordinate amount of commentary in parenthesis, which I attempted to reword in a decent manner. Please correct if you don't think it to be appropriate, but parenthetical remarks are hard to read. I have to fight the urge to keep down such remarks, myself, tending to insert excess factoids into otherwise useful information....

Also, HDD-related development is still being done at the IBM Rochester site by former the IBM STD resources divested to Hitachi GST. HGSTers from IBM don't like to forget their heritage. GMW 05:59, 2 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Update needed

[edit]

This article needs quite a bit of work to bring it up to date. A decade ago, this facility still had over five thousand employees. Now it shrunk by half as manufacturing is outsourced. Jonathunder (talk) 01:59, 7 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

nickname

[edit]

who nicknamed it the "big blue zoo". what source is there for this moniker? even if a few folks can be found, what constitutes a formal nickname? perhaps this is pure hogwash... — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2602:100:6156:FBF9:0:0:0:1 (talk) 19:08, 17 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Old comment, but I'm sure I've read it somewhere. I'll dig around for a ref. -- kewlgrapes (talk, contribs) 06:38, 27 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]
This should do. -- kewlgrapes (talk, contribs) 06:52, 27 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]
This is pure hogwash. You can quote internet references all you want. But, having worked there for 30 years, it was not referred to in that way as a general thing. Some may have, but that doesn't make it a notable nickname. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 152.117.115.186 (talk) 09:53, 10 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Site features

[edit]

I removed the list of site features as it seemed unencyclopedic and borderline advertise-y. I'd be all for including certain site features elsewhere in the article, maybe even in a dedicated section, but not in list form. If anyone disagrees with this change, please let me know. -- kewlgrapes (talk, contribs) 15:59, 25 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]
