Footnote?

[edit]

Is a 93-word "footnote" really necessary here? It makes the navbox pretty obnoxious in articles. Seriously, it's the sort of thing that should be covered in an Ole Miss Rebels football article or Ole Miss Rebels until the football article is written. Thanks, AUTiger » talk 04:23, 16 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, it is necessary since source is a foundation of WP. If you can shorten it but keep the basics of it, feel free to do so eagle. -- ALLSTAR ECHO 05:20, 16 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
In article text yes, but a WP:NAVBOX is intended as merely a (preferably short) collection of links to aid navigation, not a space to elaborately debate who was really the coach for a single year. That debate isn't even covered at Ole Miss Rebels#Football. The long discussion could be moved there and the template note be simply: ~Disputed; see Ole Miss Rebels football for details. FWIW, College Football Data Warehouse says it was CD Clark. AUTiger » talk 14:34, 16 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, as noted in the infobox, it says Ole Miss' own media guide each year says CD Clark. I've read 2 different books now that say it's JWS Rhea. I'll work on it. Give me some time, got a lot of irons in the fire. -- ALLSTAR ECHO 14:39, 16 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
No problem; thanks for the change. AUTiger » talk 14:57, 16 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Just noticed that Allen P Dodd isn't on the list at CFDW but is on the template and in Ole Miss' media guides and in the books I've read. He must be the 1905 one they have listed as No Coach. -- ALLSTAR ECHO 01:11, 17 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
