Martians

The edit was in fact constructive and I was trying to show that Martians did in fact appear in the 3 Stooges in orbit. --204.126.10.201 (talk) 21:40, 31 January 2013 (UTC)

Message from Cluebot

Hi,

When I opened Wikipedia's main page, today, while not logged in, I found that "I" had a message from Cluebot, addressed to my (current) IP address. It refers to a change that I did not make (I almost always log in before editing something). The IP address is one of a pool that my ISP reassigns whenever the connection is reset.

So, I have two concerns: First, the intended recipient did not receive the message (the change that was reverted was made on 13 December, so our IP addresses have probably changed several times since then), although that probably doesn't matter much if he's a vandal. Second, I hope this message won't cause any trouble for me or anyone else who gets assigned this address.

Thanks, Fcy (talk) 21:18, 31 January 2013 (UTC)

Don't worry – it's understood that the message only applies to the person who was on that IP address at that specific time. Anybody else acquiring that address later can safely ignore the message. It would be nice to know that the original vandal saw the message, but if they didn't, it's all water under the bridge now. Thanks. – Wdchk (talk) 02:45, 1 February 2013 (UTC)

Sigh...

You bots take all the fun out of life. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 95.149.208.237 (talk) 20:49, 2 February 2013 (UTC)

Issue with archive header field

I added {{talk archive navigation{{!}}noredlinks=y}} to the header field for ClueBot III to append to the top of the archive pages, except it doesn't substitute templates, and not escaping the pipe causes it to consider "noredlinks" as a parameter and only add {{talk archive navigation, stopping after reaching the pipe for the noredlinks field. Is there a way to allow the pipe and noredlinks field to be added? - M0rphzone (talk) 02:21, 3 February 2013 (UTC)

List of marquisates in France

Regarding the one note that was left on my User talk page http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_talk:94.170.99.72 concerning the article List of marquisates in France :

Why was that article reverted and the data I contributed with, removed? And how exactly was that data spam or vandalism? As it happens some of us trust historical sources more than WP : Cf. Gentleman's Magazine

As I understand it, the list was meant to be accurate and comprehensive. I provided WP with sourced data, only to see it automatically removed!? And we're not talking about a minor lapse either, as biographical details and correspondence between the Marquis de Chardonnay and the Duke du Berry and its historical impact in France was subject to comprehensive study, Cf. Jean de PINS, Sentiment et diplomatie au debut du XIXe. siècle (Paris: Gulbenkian, 1984). (Google books) — Preceding unsigned comment added by 94.170.99.72 (talk) 01:43, 4 February 2013 (UTC)

I don't know what triggered ClueBot, but the reversion had already been reported as a possible false positive and I have now restored the entry. Sorry about that. Yngvadottir (talk) 05:20, 4 February 2013 (UTC)

Thanks

Thanks for cleaning up the vandalism on Winslow. Appreciate it! Mugginsx (talk) 21:00, 5 February 2013 (UTC)

Thank you and your team, and ClueBot NG, for catching and removing vandalism on the Livingston International page. BrettTremblay (talk) 15:03, 6 February 2013 (UTC)

Reverted edit

Why'd you undo my edit you stupid bum.? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.160.47.247 (talk) 00:03, 7 February 2013 (UTC)

This edit was unconstructive. Cluebot NG took the appropriate action in reverting it. – Wdchk (talk) 02:14, 7 February 2013 (UTC)

Proposal for working with Welcoming Committee

Hello!

There is a proposal at the Village Pump regarding User:ClueBot_NG and WP:Welcoming Committee working together for mutual benefit. Your input would be appreciated.

Help

I would like to say sorry for my recent edits. I was joking around and I was very immature and foolish. I need help in creating an article called "Mod_Specialist". That is my name on a Gaming System that I use and I could help people on it. Can i create an article for that? I will post websites on my article, I will always stay active on the article and help it grow. Thank You, 208.87.67.61 (talk) 23:45, 9 February 2013 (UTC)

this tool does an excellent job!

it just found a 3 step vandalism in an article I'd been working on, and precisely reverted it to the last valuable version. How did it to this? 18:35, 11 February 2013 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Maximilian Schönherr (talkcontribs)

That may be intended as a rhetorical question, but in case you want to know more about how Cluebot NG works, you could read User:ClueBot NG#Vandalism Detection Algorithm. – Wdchk (talk) 22:51, 12 February 2013 (UTC)

The article 4692 SIMBAD has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

A funny name, but doesn't appear to meet WP:NASTRO nor WP:GNG

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. History of Pizza

Dear ClueBot, I'm trying to build a consensus on a revision of the History of Pizza entry. I've added a comment on the talk page for that entry under the original entry for cheese. Thank. Pg1945 — Preceding unsigned comment added by Pg1945 (talkcontribs) 10:00, 15 February 2013 (UTC)

Just noticed this. Would there be any way to make it so CBNG doesn't restore any ILL's until we can thoroughly pound into the skulls of everyone on RCP that Wikidata has gone live? At VPT I've proposed some technical measures to reduce the recurrence of humans reverting for now, and if I get the chance I plan to do some work on improving WP:WDATA to better explain things to everyone, but if we could make it so everyone's favorite anti-vandal bot doesn't contribute to the confusion, that would be nice. Thanks. — PinkAmpers&(Je vous invite à me parler) 15:30, 16 February 2013 (UTC)

I see there was an announcement on the bot owners' noticeboard, and a Signpost article. But that still leaves a huge number of human editors with no reason to know about this (weird) change. Just sayin' ... Yngvadottir (talk) 16:29, 16 February 2013 (UTC)

A barnstar for you!

{{/censor}}

Please change the parameters under which your program operates.

What so-called "clue" did your bot think made this a non-constructive edit. I think it's over-reaching its ambit as a bot, and become harmful to Wikipedia with actions like this. 209.94.191.126 (talk) 09:24, 24 February 2013 (UTC)

I'm sorry, but complaining here doesn't help, especially when you don't actually cite the edit you are complaining about. If you believe ClueBot NG has registered a false positive, the best way to influence the bot's future behavior is to report it at the ClueBot NG Report Interface. Thanks. – Wdchk (talk) 19:13, 24 February 2013 (UTC)
I believe the IP is referring to this revert. I don't know enough about the subject to know if it was a good revert... ~ Matthewrbowker Make a comment! 21:19, 24 February 2013 (UTC)
It is actually a false positive (IP was noting a matter of English variation) and I left a message on their talk suggesting they report it as the template mentions. Yngvadottir (talk) 21:44, 24 February 2013 (UTC)

Don't know what's happened here

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fort_Dobbs_%28North_Carolina%29 Somehow your bot has managed to completely mong a page which is todays featured article. Fork me (talk) 04:30, 27 February 2013 (UTC) The bot didn't mong it, just reverted back one edit to where it was already messed up. Resolved.Fork me (talk) 14:25, 27 February 2013 (UTC)
