Fifteen Things I Did in 2015

I. Started the year with mom in the hospital. Her heart gave us quite a scare, but thankfully she was OK. A couple months later she had a pacemaker put in, so we’re both cyborgs now.

II. Speaking of pacemakers, I had my old one mailed back to me from Medtronic. Unfortunately not the one that was in me, but it is the same model.

III. Moved across the country to Bellingham, WA to be closer to Amanda.

IV. Jeremiah and I revived our podcast, Late Night Toast. We recorded three episodes, so we’re already doing better than last time we tried this!

V. Attended IndieWebCamp in Portland again and continued making small improvements to this site. For example, the majority of my social media posts originated right here and were syndicated out to Facebook and Twitter.

VI. Finished a huge work project that I had worked off-and-on for five years.

VII. Enjoyed a lot of beautiful sunsets over the water. Apparently I was so busy enjoying them that I did not post any photos!

VIII. Hosted visiting Chicago friends and tried to persuade them to move to the west coast. Thanks for coming out Erica, Chris, and Jenn!

IX. Visited Cannon Beach, OR and celebrated two years with Amanda. <3

X. Attempted to write 100 words for 100 days. Only made it 13 days (and not consecutively). Oh well. Maybe I will try again this year.

XI. Read 23 books — 6,584 pages. True, six of these were Scott Pilgrim volumes (graphic novels). I’m still quite pleased compared to 12 books in 2014.

XII. Befriended Amanda’s bird, Yoshi. Seriously, he loves me. You should hear how loud he chirps when I leave the room. It’s like he’s losing his best friend.

XIII. Kept going to great concerts. The Ting Tings, Sufjan Stevens, Jim Adkins (of Jimmy Eat World), Jenny Lewis, Mew, Mutemath. I also started the big project of documenting all the concerts I’ve attended over the years.

XIV. Saw Penn & Teller perform right here in Bellingham. Met them both briefly after the show.

XV. Saw Star Wars: The Force Awakens and was very pleased. It was like being a kid again.

Riddikulus! Oh, that's for boggarts.
