This game fit the theme perfect. It was also very challenging and creative. The mechanics were fine to me and I loved that you got a little view of the other box in tiny form. Great job Malek!
Great implementation of the theme! This feels like a retro predecessor of Patrick's Parabox. Great level design throughout!
You nailed the theme, the puzzles were just the right amount of challenge. The only real nitpick I would have with this game was making the smaller box a bit bigger to make it a bit easier to see what was inside it. Couple times I had to switch back and forth just to make sure I wasn't seeing a stray pixel lol
one of my favorites, i finished the whole thing! the puzzles were amazingly well-designed, the progression felt natural, and it was overall so fun. the green mechanics confused me a bit - sometimes I couldn't tell when a block was going to be rotated or static - but this didn't impact my experience too much. loved the little touch of being able to rotate the text on the credits level.
thanks for playing through the whole game :D also i do think i made the green block levels a bit too confusing so sorry about that lol
Original concept! The graphics were great and the puzzles were fun. Good job!
I can tell it's a good game but I msut be too tired to understand it, I managed to get to level 4 by trying random switches but it's to much for me, how did I even rotate the maze AAAAH
Overall, even if I couldn't get it today (I will retry after some rest), I understand it's a very good game perfectly fitting the theme so I'm still gonna give you a (well deserved) high rating. Art is good audio is good, originality and Themes are top and I bet it would be fun if I understood how it plays
If your having some trouble figuring stuff I out I can give you some hints but thanks for still enjoying it :)
please do 🥺🤲 like what's the fundamental logic ?
Ok so each level is beaten by having the red box and the blue box in their yellow goals at the same time
And every time you jump, the level inside your current player rotates 90 degrees
And that's the basic things that make up the game :)
... I juste thought it was a fancy jump animation, this changes everything 🤯
I think this is a really unique and fun take on the concept. But the mechanics felt weird to me. I often found myself very confused. This probably because of the zooming animation and then not understanding what just changed to what. But besides that, I truly liked the game and felt it was a true puzzle game.
Yeah I think I might of made the game a bit to confusing lol but thanks for playing it :)
My feedback for inabox:
What the game does well:
Great execution of the theme 'inside out'. This truly is a puzzle platformer. I never felt rushed to take action and was able to strategize on each level.
I enjoyed trying to figure out the solution to each puzzle. The controls were responsive, and the jump height felt like the right amount/weight.
You also do a great job of teaching the player in the first few levels through UI and level design.
The levels are all in one screen, giving the player all the information they need to complete them.
The art is simple and easy to read. The audio, while not yours, isn't distracting and allows the player to focus.
What the game doesn't do well:
Jumping against a wall pushed my character slightly and killed me because I was right next to some spikes. This is likely due to the way collisions are set up.
The transition from interior/exterior and vice-versa felt really slow.
Areas of Opportunity:
The two mentioned caveats above are things that are fixable. The colors against the background sometimes were a bit difficult to see, but I suppose you can brighten them up a little.
Other than that, well done.
I hope this feedback helps!
Thanks for playing and thanks for the feedback :)
Anytime! I was really impressed and would love to stay updated on your future projects.
That's a very cleaver idea! I love this type of puzzle game and it fits the theme perfectly.
Thank you :)
Good take on the theme - the transition when switching levels is well executed
(Went to see your page and I wanted to tell you, love the banner! Really cool)
This was such a smart concept and an impressive execution, congrats! It look so complicated to code omg x) This was awesome, great entry!
Thanks Ema :D (also it was absolute hell to code lol)
That was really fun, didn't get it quite right at the start but once i realized you could rotate the entire stage my mind was like WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAH. Really fun 10/10
thanks :)
Fun: Was fun aligning the cubes and solving puzzles.
Art/Graphics: Awesome.
Audio: Great
Originality: Saw a game like that before, but still very original.
Theme: Yep
What a cool take on this concept! The box switching mechanic is really well done. I like that you can see the other 'world' within the player box, and the zoom in/out is smooth. It would be nice to add WASD movement in addition to arrow keys too.
I do agree the other map within the box is a bit hard to see sometimes, maybe you could just make the level bigger since there's so much empty space around it. I'm also not sure exactly how the level ending works. I got to level 4 and was able to get the red box to touch/overlap the yellow box through jumping or falling, but the level didn't end. Also on level three, I had to try a few different iterations to progress to the next level, even though the red box was touching the yellow one in some of them (it eventually progressed by falling onto the yellow box from above).
Thank you :) also the level ends when both the red and blue boxes are in their levels yellow gate at the same time
ohhh okay I somehow missed that despite getting to level 4! I was just using the blue box as a tool to get the red box to the yellow box haha
wow you really managed to figure out the inside / out idea! amazing work and really mind blending puzzles
Thank you :D
Good Game!
This suits the theme quite originally, and the style overall is quite good. My main problem is that I am guessing you have to know the orientation of your little square in order to solve many of the puzzles, but my beady little eyes can't make out something that small as the inside of the little cube.
Really cool concept. I had a few bugs where I was stuck on a wall or I my position jittered on one screen. But really cool puzzles and execution. I also had a hard time seeing inside the square so I wish that was a bit more clear.
thanks! and i honestly tried my hardest to stop those bugs from happening but i couldn't figure it out in time :(
This game is pretty underrated. The concept is very cool and I had fun playing the game, I didn't know GDevelop can do stuff like that. I feel like there should be an easier way to see whats inside the squares, they are quite small so it's hard to see. The art also looks really nice.
thanks! and yeah making it easier to see the cubes inside would have probably been good to add :L
I found a bug on level 7 If the big purple box hits the blue square from above, the square fells off of the screen and can't use it anymore.
Anyway, great game! Very fun, I like puzzle games and this is one of the most original interpretation to the theme.
Oh yeah I know about that and it's actually used to solve a later level , but if it makes you lose the level you can press r to restart
