Thank you so much! Being constant is definitely a challenge, but I'm very happy to be part of this project

We are waiting for more feedback before making bigger changes to Town Alight, but we've been working hard these past few days fixing bugs and adding some Quality of Life improvements. All of these improvements are being done to this version of the game before we head straight into developing it into a more fully fledged game!
If you're interested in the game, you can check our Discord server and Town Alight's Itch.io page.
Fixes:
- Fixed error in which players were unable to click near HUD images.
- Fixed weird offset that appeared on some PCs in the game's viewport
- General refactoring to improve efficiency
- Redesigned some levels to remove unaccessible areas
Quality of Life updates:
- Birds are now found in every level of the game (I wonder why they're there...)
- Villagers were repositioned in multiple levels to better coincide with their hotkeys
- Added new indicator for when villagers are idle
- Improved tutorial pace
- Selected villager is now rendered on top to make it clear which villager is being selected
- When selecting villagers, priority is given to villagers closer to the mouse now
- Idle villagers now have bigger click hitboxes than busy villagers
New content:
- Designed two additional levels to achieve a more linear progression in difficulty
- Redesigned multiple levels to better adjust them to their intended difficulty
It's amazing how much you put together in this small timeframe! Great visuals and music. The humor at the start of the game is very good as well! I did found that you can cheese the boss by attacking it before it enters the screen, allowing you to kill it without it attacking you. Great game overall, well done!
Very cool game! I suck at rhythm games (and this was no exception), but I do enjoy when I'm able to overcome a challenge, not because the game makes it easier for you, but because I learn, and this was such case. As others said, it would be cool to know somehow if I missed because I was rushing or dragging (mandatory Whiplash meme). I've seen in other rhythm games that all the elements on the screen go at the same tempo to help you; I know the firemen have a slight change in scale to represent this, but it might be too hard to see, specially in bigger levels such as the last one. Very good music and simple but effective art, great job!!!
A wonderful and unique puzzle game! You did a very good job introducing concepts through gameplay. That being said... Whoever says they beat level 9, they're lying and you can't convince me otherwise. Great job!!! I hope you expand this idea further, I'd definitely buy this game.
EDIT: I tried level 9 again and I beat it! :) I'm not sure that wasn't cheese tho lol
Great game! If I'm honest, I thought this would be another Vampire Survivors clone when I first opened it. However, I really liked the twist you gave to it, by giving the enemies perks as well. The sprites are very polished and work well with what you're trying to do, giving me Cult of the Lamb vibes. I think the gameplay might need a bit more balance, as I didn't notice much some of the perks that were given to me (or the zombies); it would be interesting to add more enemies, as it was fairly easy to escape from the zombies. Good job both of you <3
I love the casual nature of this game, which was enhanced by the background music! As well, the art works very well with what you're trying to achieve. A small balancing detail to take into account if you plan to expand on this idea further is that if you cast a net between the Hitch and another boat, you could just leave any of the boats close to the base and make the other one move in circles, allowing you to deposit the trash all the time, letting you earn money very easily. Besides this, great job! Very chill game.
A very interesting twist to the theme of the game jam. I like the way in which you are transmitting the story of the game, but I do believe it still needs a bit pof polish. For some of the mini-games, I didn't know the objective; I believe they could be explained a bit better. Also, I don't know if it was an issue with the font or the background, but it was difficult for me to read some of the text. Again, the idea is very cool and I'd be interested to see how you expand it in the future. Good job!
PS: I played the game on the browser, I'm not downloading games for now, sorry.
This is a game with beautiful art and music. The pixel art and the implemented mechanics are well polished, taking into account the short development time. For the future, if you plan to expand on this game, I would suggest making the guards rotate progressively instead of making them flip instanty, because if you get busted, it doesn't feel fair. As well, I'd suggest using raycasting to check if the pet is behind and obstacle or a wall, because at points, the guards could bust you from behind a wall. Besides these few details, the game looks great, very good job!
I couldn't stop laughing with the screams of despair lol This is a really cool idea, I love how well the Slow Time mechanic works in here. The only tiny issue I had was that the brush's hitbox was a bit too small and it was difficult to paint. It was made way easier with slow time.
The pixel art is wonderful, and I specially liked how you handled the parallax effect in here, great job! All the extra stuff you can check in the lexicon is also a great detail, and shows the potential of expansion in the game. Great job in general!
Really clever puzzle game. The miasma effect is very effective and well done. The overall atmosphere of the game is very interesting and it's clear you put a lot of effort on it, great job <3
My sole feedback would be that sometimes the miasma doesn't spread as quickly as other times, making some levels cheesable and letting you skip some of the steps of the puzzle. I hope you release an extended version in the future :)
The music and the art fuse great, while the general story has you waiting for more. Definitely one of the best in the jam. On the browser (Firefox), the dialogue was occluded by the options. Tried the desktop version but it seemed to had a bigger resolution than 1080p, which didn't allow me to see the different options. Small details in an otherwise great submission. Amazing work!!!
This is a great example of games as an art form! A very charm story told through a very creative artstyle. I hope you expand on this idea further; the spinning mechanic was very fun and I saw you said in another comment that you have other mechanics ready to go, hope to see a full version of this :)
A little suggestion: Handle the music through a singleton or a separate scene that never unloads, that way you can choose if the music restarts or not when restarting a level (nless this was intentional).
Great job!!!
The game's concept is very interesting and I definitely had some panic attacks when the light was fading lol Glad you could make the atmosphere work as it did! It's not easy to do in a top-down game. I also liked the final scene a lot, it's a great addition. Sadly, the dialogue was very hard to read as I was too busy panicking over finding more light haha If you do put the dialogue in a bubble next to the character, I'd suggest having smaller texts for each dialogue as it could easily block the whole screen and affect the gameplay. Great job guys <3
Very cute game, looks very polished. The concept of the game, the art and the music blend together very well! I struggled a bit at first knowing who had the pencil because of the angle of the game. Maybe you could add a way to switch angles to better understand the perspective? Besides that, great job!!!
Really cool combination of sprites and 3D models! The lighting and music make for a very relaxing experience. In my opinion, the adventurers feel a bit out of place, taking into account the game's atmosphere, specially because they can kill you with a single hit. Their AI could be improved a bit as well. In general, a cool concept that can be expanded further, good job!!!
Carl would be very proud of you! I really like how this doesn't feel like other golf games out there. I still need to test all putters, but it looks like there's many ways in which you could expand this game, specially forcing the player to use different putters depending on the situation. Great job!
