Thanks so much for the clip - that's awesome!  It still has a long way to go, but it's a pretty fun project.

You're right about the controls, pretty janky on keyboard.  A lot easier on controller than keyboard.  I guess we could just say that one direction is up/down.

This is good fun, but be warned this game is brutal 😅

It takes a while to get used to the controls, but it is worth it! Swinging on the vines is really satisfying when you get it right - and I love the UFO sounds.

A couple design decisions I really like:

  • Enemies don't immediately reset when you die.  Even if you're struggling to make progress forward, you can still sweep the enemies clean to make it easier for your next attempt.
  • Used the theme of the jam as the core mechanic.  When you get all your parts together you do feel so much stronger.  You start so scared of enemies - you have to flip, kill them, and land back on your feet again.  At the end you feel invincible punching and kicking all foes as you go!

When I played there were 2 people online on the server, so it felt more like  a puzzle game where you have to outsmart your opponent - really interesting!   I can imagine that with a lobby full of players things would get VERY hectic very quickly, and you'd struggle to control anything 😂

I just played a few rounds of this with Masaiko and ArnoldusThe Great - this game is FUN!  I recommend everyone to try and buddy up on the GMTK discord to play this gem.

It focuses on the main mechanic (time without your skull), and sticks to a clean and simple fighting system - really good design!

Hi, really want to play your game but having a few issues (unsure if this is the best place to post, but want to let you know).  I'm on windows 10 and downloaded with the Itch.io client.

Nice game, well put together.

I think the design of the last level stood out as something you'd put a lot of time into!  There were many times where you think you're about to die and have to think quickly.  Makes the player feel good to escape the danger.

Loved playing this, concept was cool and I think would be much better with 4 players.  With fewer players it does become easier by leaving out some of the controls.  I can imagine a 'hard mode' where different players control steering/acceleration/gear-stick/clutch.

Art style reminded my of 'Simpsons Hit and Run', and everything was really smooth!  Well done

My favourite game of the jam so far!  All I want in life is to be a good boi, and this has made me a lot happier.

I like that you used your game to send political statements about the current state of immigration.  Throughout the game I was in need of more citizens to fulfil every job.  This shows that we need to allow more immigrants for society to prosper!

Completely agree with the need for menus/explanation, and how much an AI would help the game.  Maybe we should keep up the work and polish this...

Thanks for taking time to play! It's always hard with a multiplayer game like this.
We have a whiteboard full of all the other ways we want to change our input 😅but sadly had to cut these to make it in on time.

Played this through multiple times, and way too much for my brain to handle!  I did get stuck a bit with buttons mapping to U/V, in the font they're really similar. 

All the minigames were smooth and instantly understandable, so it gave space for the main mechanic.  Really well pulled off!

OMG I just saw the trailer!

This is one of the best cutscene's i've ever seen in video games.  If I had 10 I would get a Volver.  Would play again.

The player felt great, and I love how smooth the animations were.  The puzzles were really well thought out, will definitely recommend!

The start screen is super classy and the visuals of this are so polished!  This game is crushing though - I'm awful, definitely out of control 😅

This is the first game that I've made.  It's a 1v1 multiplayer game, so you need to find someone to play it at the same time with you

This is a lovely platformer, that is immediately understood.  There were a couple levels towards the end (The one with two long vertical platforms, and the one where you need to hit the underside of the platofrm ) that really stood out, showing how you'd developed to work with the main mechanic.

I just wish there were more levels!  Definitely consider continuing with this

This made me laugh a lot - and many levels later is still funny and somewhat addicting.  Please release the soundtrack, I need it!  Also I now feel like some binary computer operator

I like that you see the similarity.  I originally considered adding a disarm mechanic (like in Niddhog), but kept it simple.  It could easily be wrapped up into an android apk, but I think I should try and solve local networking (so I could play on the train to work :D )

This is my first game, and my first game jam.  I've always been a bit scared to start on a project like this with no knowledge of game engines or best practises when approaching a task like this. This weekend forced me to hit it head on and give it a go.   

I did the whole game in JavaScript as I'm a Web developer and that's what I know best.  I focused on a game with only one input and made a 1v1 jousting game. 

Built up a lot of confidence and will definitely enter again next year!
