This is such a cute game I'm just so bad at it... I wish there was fish you can eat for my cute cat

Congrats on the first game! Having this kind of light system for your first game is pretty impressive!

Great game!

Such a fun game! Wife is so OP I wish she was in my IKOT all the tim\

This entry is IMO contender for first for sure. It's an amazing entry with really deep mechanics, and the retro look/feel just takes you back. I'm just really impressed with how much freedom there is in the movement - must have been really tough to design and fully make right.

I loved how fluid everything felt. It reminds me of a lot of things, prince of persia, akuji the heartless, and it's really solid all around.

This is a great entry! The atmosphere is phenomenal - I actually was going for the same kind of mood in my game, but you did it in much better. The pacing and the atmosphere is pretty great!

It's actually hard to write this review because rittz (the comment below me) pretty much echoes all the criticisms I would have made. The snail on a tiny platform in particular came up a lot, and it was pretty frustrating to handle. This is especially because of the hit box of the character, which seems circular and would mean it would fall if it was on the corners of platforms.

I understand also if you weren't aware, but CTRL as the control for the shell was bad for mac - ctrl + arrow key would trigger switching of screens, so I had a lot of trouble maneuvering through the bubbles. I also feel like the slowdown was largely unneeded (or could have been reduced).

Overall I do think that you knocked the mood out of the park, and it's a great solid entry.

Put simply, amazing game. I'm a huge fan of Cave Story and it hits all the sweet spot.

Really the only bad thing about it is it should have been longer - we want more!

This is a pretty nice game. The upgrades are pretty good and the general layouts are nice.

I do think though that it lacks a lot of polish. For example, the first enemy, I wasn't even sure if I was 'hurting' it. The knockback is too fast, and the sound effect didn't sound like 'hurt' and so I was thinking it was an invulnerable ghost that I need a new sword to defeat. When I fought the squid though, I realized that I could kill them. I think it would have been good if there was some more polish to the combat and make it feel like I'm registering a hit.

I think the first roof area was quite a bit of an odd level layout. It wasn't immediately obvious to me that you had to jump on to the roof, so I tried jumping through the hole (and bump my head and fall). I did this twice (I thought I just messed up the timing). I understand that part of it is to show the use of the mobility options, but I feel like it would have been less frustrating if the hole wouldn't drop you down to the first floor again (and have to trek back up). I wasn't sure if it served as a 'tutorial' to show how the dash is useful, but imo it should have been less 'punishing' in pushing you back.

There were also instances were I got put out of the screen, and I had to reload my save (because I was out of the camera).

Overall I think the game is nice, and the mobility options are great, but it did feel like some parts of it could have been improved.

Oh yes! I accidentally published the game with an old version, the current one should not have that bug. Thanks for playing!

I really like this game, and I think it's one of the most complete games in this jam and it actually made me realize stuff as well.

First of, the graphics, animations, and general polish are great. It makes use of a cohesive artstyle, the animations look solid, and everything feels juicy and fun to play. It's super polished, which I think adds to the feeling of it being a complete experience.

More than that, the use of the theme is really smart. Using enemies attacks as makeshift attacks for the player is I think something a lot of games in this jam have thought of (including myself) but the sheer simplicity of it here really shines. It took one simple mechanic and 'ran' with it, which makes for a good solid game.

This game is a solid jam entry, and I think 'ticks off' all the boxes of what constitutes not only a good game, but a good 'jam' game. It shows how you can take one simple mechanic and stretch and use it to a full game. I'm really proud of my game, but I think maybe one of my missteps was being too fancy and having too many mechanics, and playing your game made me realize that minimalism and making good use of a core idea or mechanic can showcase how you can revolve a fun experience in a small solid package.

I think a good game is a game that makes you think about these things, and it definitely made me think, so kudos!

Nice! Really dig the 3d zombie - I was actually planning on doing something similar in my game so really happy to see it done here :)

The thing I think could be improved on is indicators for hit. Right now it's not super obvious that the boss was hit, and I feel like it's missing some 'juice'. I also wish the art style was a bit more cohesive - I love the 3d in 2d but it does look a touch out of place.

Overall the ideas in the game was pretty nifty and I think this can be expanded!

I've been waiting to play this ever since I saw it on discord! It looks amazing! Love the bosses, music, and how everything ties in together. Feels very polished, well done!

The gameplay is solid, though a bit too easy. I love how the mechanics of the bosses build on top of each other.

The only thing I'm critical about are the upgrades. I wish you could try out the upgrades before committing, and I also had trouble understanding how the 2nd upgrade I got worked (to the point I wished I only had my first gun instead).

Overall good solid polished game!

Appreciate the detailed feedback! Thank you for the kudos! You know I'm a programmer by trade, and I've received a lot of appreciation for the art, so I'm really happy about that :D

I agree, with you on your points! Fun fact, one of the things I wanted to add is the player being more obvious in terms of 'makeshift' and it'll be a funny moment where you think the player is losing, but he'll end up just going 'full makeshift' and just using the environment around him:

Carry PILLARS, carry TREES, carry the environment :D But had to trim down the scope!
I agree with the You Won screen :) Wish I could have added some sort of story as well. Glad you liked the lines from the first boss - that was a last minute addition :D

Hey, feel free to message me on discord (Secretmapper#1156)

Fun little game! This really caught my eye in the #showcase in the discord so been really looking forward to play it.

I think the only thing I want to say is that some of the bosses are really hard in terms of readability. I don't know if this is just for the web version but some bosses can move out of the player's view. For the 2nd boss, the player is the one that can get quite lost, because the boss is so big and covers it. It'd be great if there's some sort of silohuette that shows up if the player is behind the boss.

Apart from that it's a fun game! Really love how fun looking the 'potato finger looking guy' is

Ah that's quite unfortunate!

If you have the chance to try again, I think I may have a solution. I think the game is quite big, and so it might looked cropped if you start it. However, you can resize the window (from the sides) and windows should snap and center it, so it doesn't look cropped anymore. Let me know if that helps! Will look into solving this issue at first start as well.

Thank you very much for the kind words! Glad you liked our cute dog :D We're pleased to say we are indeed planning to add full VA work for the piece :)

Thank you very much for the kind words :) We really did want to make it "feel" like watching a show so I'm glad to know we achieved that!

Thank you very much! I hope ignoring the AV warning works! I hope you enjoy the game :)

We'll also be looking into AVG antivirus and see if there's anything that we can do to prevent it from being tripped up.

Thank you very much for the feedback, Melancholy Marionette! Really happy to hear that it was a treat, and hope you enjoyed the play through :3

I'm going to bug our main artist @blink for that Netflix release :D

Hello Lampara! Would you able to share what OS and antivirus you're using that flags the game? Would really like to check up on it if possible.

In the meantime, hopefully Melancholy's comment will help and ignoring the warning for now will enable you to play the game :)

I'm glad you liked the voice acting! Lucky and stoked to have worked with an excellent cast.

Thank you for the feedback! We unfortunately realized this feature too late but will be adding it in an update :)

Thank you very much for the useful feedback!

Short but very sweet adventure! Super fun with a quirky and unique art style!

Ah I saw that but thought I missed more.

I don't get it, what's the meta part? Or do I just need to keep playing? I find the controls a bit cumbersome (clicking the tiny move/attack icons is a bit hard)
Fun little game nonetheless
