Absolute fair play, well done. Got reaaallly hard towards the end (224 deaths total lol), I think I only kept going out of spite tbh, but the satisfaction was worth it. The gameplay feels really solid though maybe a but more reaction time on the fireballs would be nice. In terms of visuals and sound its just got everything. The dark theme with bright colours for attacks is something I've been wanting to do for ages good to have such a great example

I think I definitely overdid the difficulty a bit... I thought it wouldn't be fun if it was easier, but I realised you get used to all the little quirks and tricks of your own game and forget what its like to play it the first time, and then also I just had no time left to balance it properly

Yeah I struggled a lot with balancing it to make it both not impossible but also keeping the hectic feeling- I only just realised now that you mention difficulty that I could've easily implemented two or more difficulties but I guess you live and you learn. Thanks for the feedback!

Wow I absolutely adored this, pretty difficult at times but all the more rewarding for it, definitely gets full marks from me. Only issue is that the game doesnt fit on my screen and fullscreen mode is buggy too, but the wonderful ambience and the backgrounds make up for having to use the scroll bar constantly lol. Really well done and a unique take to stand out among all the other shrinking/growing platformers.

Ahhh you're too kind! That would be absolutely amazing but I would be extremely surprised if that happened. Thanks a million though

I love this concept it's brilliant! Having to think about how to give yourself an advantage regardless of which role you get is quite fun. Unfortunate that you have to go back to the start when you mess up, because otherwise I would play every level lol, but makes sense in a way I suppose to make you care about losing. The style is really great too and the sounds are so satisfying. One of my favourites so far definitely and if you took this out of the game jam I would absolutely want to play it, seems like there's loads of directions to take this concept. Congrats!

Well done! could have done with a few more levels, but enjoyed it nonetheless

Absolutely nuts enjoyed it though. Made me smile

Thanks :) I appreciate your appreciation (..) of the visuals of the outlines flying I felt it was really important for the feel of the game so I tried many many things and it ended up being really simple, that was definitely a good learning experience. Yeah the physics..... oh well, as you say game jam lol. I did try one or two things for the sprite but it always looked odd because of the combination of the side view background and top-down box, but totally a goblin would've been cool and very on-theme. I wish I had just put googly eyes on the character sprite though would've added a bit of life at least. Thanks a million for the feedback!

This is insanely captivating... The music and the style are brilliant. Gets pretty hard at the end but I never found myself considering giving up because I was totally sucked in and determined to finish it regardless, which is really impressive in a game jam when theres 10 other games I have queued up to play. Amazing job, well done! Full marks from me.

Blown away by how you managed to make this all in 4 days. Love the style too. Totally reminds me of dwarf fortress in that I had absolutely no idea what I was doing the whole time and you just figure it out by doing it wrong. Love the art too. If you developed this further I would definitely play it. Well done!

Great fun! Made me realise I should've added a leaderboard to my own game... oh well. Gave me wrist cramps playing it on my laptop trackpad though lol. The glowing of the creatures is done really well, its really pretty and easy to see everything on screen despite all the action. Congrats!

Not my type of game, but even then I was amazed by how beautiful the style is and how extremely polished everything is. Really well executed.

Good fun and very neat idea. A bit of variety in the enemies would be nice though, as you're basically just doing the same thing with bigger numbers after a while. maybe a multiplier block that can merge with anything or something like that would be cool too. It was really enjoyable though and I love the design of the blocks!

Great idea and the style makes it feel like a fully polished game which is really impressive for 4 days. A speed change button would have been really nice to have, to speed up in general but also to be able to slow down when changing stuff around to make a completely new path etc. Absolutely love the visuals.

Flying the plane feels so smooth! Really well done visually too. Unfortunately didn't have the willpower to make it to the end after dying in the last stretch, so I'm going to hope I'm not missing out on anything. Well done really smart design choice and well executed

I think the concept is really neat, but unfortunately I was unable to get the lever on the second bridge to work and after 2 minutes of shooting it, scrolling into the backpack reloading and shooting it again I gave up. I tried both types of ammo and different parts of the lever. If anyone figures out what I'm doing wrong please let me know because I'd love to see the story!

Thanks man! Yeah the box was pretty much a product of me searching online for a half decent image that was actually top down and not angled, I would've loved to draw it myself  but going into the jam I knew I would have to use mostly assets as I have only very recently even tried to get into art of any kind so I could've ended up spending half the time on the art and not being happy with the art and giving up. Sticking and rotating tbf is really hard in the confined space I still mess it up all the time lol

I certainly did! With the enemies its just that when you don't see what they're doing its hard to determine what you should be doing yourself, i.e. more shield/less shield. Best of luck going forward!

Really well executed. Each and every one of the levels has a new trick and feels good. I appreciate focusing on just a few really solid levels, especially in a game jam where there's so many other things you want to try. Good decision on the art style as well, does the job and lets the smooth gameplay shine through.

Fair enough, thanks for the reply, kind of reached the same conclusion after thinking about it yesterday, but asking random people on the internet can be a great source of wisdom sometimes ;)

I really like the artstyle. A little bar in the corner showing the three characters, their numbers and which is selected or something like that would have been a great addition to make it feel more grounded. Some paths are hidden by the camera unless you go looking off the sides of things which both feels odd and also adds a bit to the mystery. unfortunately managed to get the blue character stuck but I think I'll give it another go later. Well done

Thanks a million for the feedback! Yeah it's my first game jam (also game) and I didn't really think about how important visual appeal is when your competing in such a large pool. Probably reflective of like a thousand indie devs experiences lol. You wouldn't have any tips for improving the screenshots by any chance?

Neat idea, though really needs some explanation in-game and in the zoom its really hard to tell where things will be later on, which ends up being a bit frustrating when you have to restart. Really creative idea though well done

Love the ambition, but balancing something like this in such a short amount of time is obviously really hard. I think this could definitely be fleshed out more and turned into something bigger. The ability to make your own cards is a neat idea, and I think resonance is a neat concept, but the strategic aspect of the game suffers a bit from the overload of mechanics introduced at once and mashed into a deck, as well as the speed of the opponent being too fast. Would've been fun to have different enemies that do different strategies (decks) and build a deck to try and beat those. Could set those up yourself but obviously that's a lot of work when you just want to leaf through a few quick game jam games. I totally think this would be really cool for 2 players, though local 2 player games are already unpopular nowadays and having to make your own cards and stuff makes it even more unlikely to be played. Love the idea anyway, and sorry for the ramble lol just randomly got invested in this for no reason :)

Absolutely adore the style! A little info box in the corner containing the selected length would've been a great addition imo, always a fan of information lol

Kind of just turns into running in a circle and aiming. Maybe a larger space and/or an enemy that does something different could make it more dynamic. Pointing at things to shoot them is always fun though, and congrats!

(1 edit)

:) Thanks a million! Yeah keeping any semblance of order gets pretty impossible pretty fast lol, but otherwise it wouldn't be half as fun

How does one even come up with an idea this good. Great execution too. Congrats!

Trying to figure out what in the world was going on and then it just clicking was the best part of the game. Well Done!

The style is absolutely wonderful and really cool mechanic with great execution. Slightly repetitive in terms of the platforming but probably a wise choice to focus on the one mechanic. Congrats

Full respect for the creativity. Looks really cool in the end too

Totally hooked, don't have the brainpower for all 45 levels at 1am lol but this is my favourite so far and I'll definitely come back someday. I reallllllly love the grid and movement vfx its unbelievably satisfying in its simplicity

I love the attack mechanic but when you're small its pretty unsatisfying and feels impossible. Maybe it could spread out more when smaller. Great fun though once you get a decent size, though still not exactly easy lol. Glad to see I'm not the only one that went with a stupidly difficult arcade style game :)
