Hello,

When we upgrade the iphone , we obviously want to have all our accounts under MS-authenticator app to be recovered on new phone.

I know the process how to do that. Meaning taking backup on iCloud.
My question is, once I see the account in the new phone, that does not mean that the account in the old phone is invalid.
I can use any of the phones to read and manually feed the OTP Am I right ??

And secondly, instead of doing this backup and recovery route, if we do complete apps and data transfer from old iPhone to new iPhone (remember just by putting two phones side-by-side and putting apple-id/password we can have all our data and apps cloned into the the new phone) , do you think it will work getting my MS-authenticator app erected as it was on the old iPhone with all the accounts ???

Thanks.

Ya i agree that we can have microsoft authenticator on multiple devices..

However, I strongly believe that MSFT should do something otherwise we are DEFEATING the whole purpose of backup and recovery.

When I have to set up authenticator app again on the portal, scan the QR-code etc. then why would I bother to do backup and recovery in the first place ??
Almost all my accounts use PUSH NOTIFICATION
So for those accounts backup and recovery is useless.

You can restore from backup (assuming there was one) but make sure no accounts have been added to the newly install app. Then sign on with recovery account to do the restore.

You can recover your account credentials from your cloud account, but you must first make sure that the account you're recovering doesn't exist in the Microsoft Authenticator app. For example, if you're recovering your personal Microsoft account, you must make sure you don't have a personal Microsoft account already set up in the authenticator app. This check is important so we can be sure we're not overwriting or erasing an existing account by mistake.

If anybody has done the direct transfer from phone to phone, please let us know the experience.
    Meaning
