Cases in Brief for Community Newspapers

Community newspapers are welcome to republish Supreme Court Cases in Brief.

The Office of the Registrar of the Supreme Court of Canada provides the public with easy-to-read, plain language summaries of Court decisions. Please consult the news release for additional information.

If you would like to republish a Case in Brief, all you need to do is:

  • Ensure the Case in Brief is published in full, with no edits.
  • Identify the article in its print or online publication as a “Supreme Court Case in Brief” and include the case name as part of the title or subtitle, such as R. v. ABC Corporation.
  • Include the following text at the bottom of the article:
    • “Cases in Brief are prepared by the Supreme Court communications team. You may read the entire judgment.”

The Court appreciates information on how often our Cases in Brief are being used. Once published, please send us a link or a PDF copy of the piece! If you have any questions or concerns, or would like to provide the Office of the Registrar with feedback, please email media@scc-csc.ca.
