- [Presenter} Accessibility first design is most successful when all disciplines collaborate in content design, visual design, development, and accessibility testing. However, not all teams can work this way meaning formal design handoff may still be necessary. If design handoff is truly needed, all accessibility consideration should be well documented to set up all remaining work. Accessible design handoff relies heavily on shared understanding, great documentation, and annotations. With handoff, each discipline has to anticipate the needs of other disciplines, and have bridging knowledge into the opportunities and challenges of each phase of work. This is especially true when it comes to accessibility. For example, with design handoff, visual designers will need to have full understanding of accessible interaction patterns to properly design all the necessary states.
