Engage in a growth mindset to become a life-long learner
- As a long-term practitioner, I recently started writing. The first article I published, I received constructive feedback from my peers. The next few times, my articles were still not largely received, and I found my mind immediately went to this place to think I'm terrible at writing. A growth mindset is the belief that our basic abilities can be developed and improved through dedication and effort. When we carry a growth mindset, we lean into the required effort to grow our potential in ways we want to see it to come to life. A fixed mindset, on the other hand, is the belief that our abilities are predefined and cannot be changed. When we have a fixed mindset, we tend to shy away from challenges because we do not want to feel embarrassed or humiliated in front of others. Now, this can be problematic as our fear of making mistakes can lead us to avoid challenges and new experiences that could help us grow and unleash our potential with others.
