- Are you in your current job positioned for driving individual or collective action? How about rewards? Are you rewarded for driving individual or team results? Getting teams to collaborate effectively is hard work, because human beings have a natural tendency to put themselves or their group ahead of others. Collective impact, however, requires a lot of commitment and dedication from all team members equally. But it becomes particularly difficult when individuals aren't recognized or rewarded for driving collective action. A collective mindset is one that focuses on mutual accountability and result-sharing. It considers relationships between parts and wholes, stability and change, rationality and creativity, rather than the boundaries that divide groups, ideas, and spaces.
