Data collection 2020
The Czech Telecommunication Office (CTU) performed in 2021 via its Electronic data collection system (ESD) a broad data collection on the existing electronic communications networks infrastructure with focus on the identification of connections allowing the provision of internet access services with the speed of 30 Mbit/s and higher, according to address points. The collected data refers to 31 December 2020.
2,173 undertakings (providers of Internet access service or providers of public communication networks for such services) were asked to submit data to CTU. CTU received and verified data from 2,028 undertakings (i.e. 93%) until 25 June 2021, ca. 7% (i.e. 145) of undertakings submitted the date in non-verifiably form.
The results were submitted to Ministry of Industry and Trade (MPO) and further processing and use is fully in the competence of MPO, mainly for the purpose of defining the so-called regions for intervention.
For information, CTU presents coverage maps of electronic communications networks for internet access services in the Czech Republic.
Other source data is available in the section "Open data of CTU". In particular, there is a summary table of all basic residential units (hereinafter "ZSJ") in the Czech Republic (including the total percentage of coverage and number of undertakings active in the ZSJ) and a summary table of colour marking of the ZSJ within individual region using the previously described evaluation procedure.
New data on so-called projections, i.e. data on connections that are planned to be built in the next three years, were no longer considered for the calculation of the color marking of the ZSJ.
A total of 22,653 ZSJ was identified on the territory of the Czech Republic, out of which 19.86 % were identified as white, 5.28 % as grey and 74.86 % as black.
