How does your game fit the theme?
In games, we usually play the role of a protagonist, solving challenges, fighting enemies, and saving the world. But what if we weren't the main character? We have explored various ideas, such as being an antagonist, the damsel in dismay, other npc, or even the weapon itself. After further brainstorming, we decided to “reverse” our role as the space itself. In most games, we need to navigate through space in order to drive the adventure forward. Game designers meticulously designed the map to guide the player's action, whether it’s collecting treasures or avoiding obstacles. We wanted to experiment with the concept of players controlling the space to assist the “protagonist” in winning the game. For our prototype, we used Flappy Bird, a classic arcade style game. In Flappy Bird, players click the screen to maneuver a small bird through obstacles. In our game, FxxxBxxx, we control the “obstacles” instead, “helping” the creature flying through. At the same time, we also reversed the story to reveal the truth behind the curtain.

I like the art direction and music. Very intuitive and simple to play, although I wish it got harder faster.

Neat idea and cool presentation.  I kept losing track of my cursor on the black and white screen.

Really cool, It's a similar concept to my entry but executed very differently. Is there any chance of an android APK version? I think it would work well on mobile.

Edit: I've just remembered webgl works on mobile but an offline version would be cool.

Dear Community,

We are incredibly grateful for your warm response to our game and for your appreciation of its artistry. All feedbacks are both encouraging and inspiring!!!

We've taken note of the suggestions regarding the white cursor. It's clear that its contrast with the game's visual aesthetic has been an issue, and we will work on introducing a custom cursor to improve the overall gaming experience.

The praise for the game's art is especially heartwarming. As the lead artist, it means a great deal to me that our visual design resonated with so many of you. This is the kind of motivation that fuels our desire to continue innovating and creating.

Your comments about the gameplay, the perceived difficulty levels, and possible improvements have not gone unnoticed. We are actively addressing these issues and are committed to enhancing the game to make it more engaging and enjoyable.

Taking your feedback into account, we're planning several key improvements:

  1. A custom cursor to improve the gaming experience.
  2. The integration of smoother, more immersive music.
  3. An increase in difficulty as the game progresses, with the addition of more obstacles.
  4. The introduction of more diverse game modes for a richer and more varied gaming experience.

Your support and constructive criticism are invaluable to us. We are excited about the planned updates and look forward to sharing them with you.

Thank you for helping us shape the future of our game and for being a part of our journey.

Best,

FXXX BXXX

That is really cool. The twist on the controls works really well for Flappy Bird remix. The only issue I had is that both the background and the objects are white and my cursor is white too, so the game was just not readable enough.

The artwork steals the show

The art is looking soooo nice! funny revered flappy bird game :)

Maybe I misunderstood something, but I don't understand how my mouse movements controls the game exactly. Anyway still cool music and art, And I did still manage to score like 20, no idea how

Submitted

the art style is sick! very solid level of difficulty too.

I had a great time playing this simple idea. The only thing that you should've changed is to add a custom cursor with a different color and big because i always lost because i list where i am (white cursor with black & white game).

Fantastic art style, the art itself already gives a sense of movement. The game itself was a bit difficult, though (or I suck? lol).

Really cool!

the artstyle is amazing! The game is fun and I love it but it can be very hard to get the grasp of the control. I think it would be better if the player was able to drag/drop from in between the woods and with a custom mouse with another colors because it was very difficult for me to locate my mouse.

Despite this Excellent game, well done!

Great art style, its a lot more relaxing than flappy bird which I prefer because I'm terrible at it, but this I did a lot better on

Fantastic game!

I love this game, especially the art style! Also it is a great twist on the theme and it was fun playing! :D

Great twist on the theme! Also your art style is dope super super unqiue and cool

I thought this was a pretty good interpretation of the flappy bird style that I've seen so far. I like the artstyle although I don't think the default cursor icon is really suitable for the game as it does blend in with the art, so you may want to look into changing it within Unity.

This might be the coolest artstyle I have seen out of any of the games so far, title is great too. The gameplay felt repetitive though and the tree moving felt a bit unresponsive, and it was sometimes hard to tell where the "bxxx" is going. If the gameplay is improved I think this could be a really solid game. It would also be really cool if the game story art that's on the itch page showed up in game in like a cinematic cutscene (or maybe I just didnt get far enough to reach it or didn't find it). Overall great experience!

This is a really clean execution.

What truth was revealed!?!? My score was 21, maybe I didn't get far enough for the truth.

Great audio also! Love the whole presentation and reasoning. Gameplay itself was true to Flappy Bird difficulty for me. It felt very... connected to the source material (in pacing) while being wholly otherworldly in presentation and gameplay, which I imagine is the intent.

Love the idea and the artstyle a lot! But the hitboxes are weird tbh. The size changing is not helping that visually. Otherwise it's a nice idea that would slap with a bit more time. The music could use a better flow tho it felt cut off which breaks the concentration a bit.
