Hi! There are no pronoun options, as the main character is a specific character rather than a self-insert. I wrote a bit more about that here: https://itch.io/post/10240453 (as well as gave alt recommendations if you'd like to check those out!)
I honestly don't know what that would entail! Do Chromebook games need to come from Google's app store? We're investigating bringing this game to the play store, so that may work for you. We will look into it and report back if we can make it happen!
Also, your whole email is in your username! I wanted to flag that for privacy's sake, just in case you weren't aware ^^
A friend sent me this review of the Wander Society. I especially enjoy the examples of how it reframes navigating real space.
Hi hi! The main character does not end up having the option to use pronouns other than she/hers in the duration of the game. She questions her gender in one route, but doesn't reach a conclusion where she changes her pronouns. I'm also linking this comment from earlier for a more detailed answer: https://itch.io/post/10240453
Thanks for checking out the game! Even if you don't end up playing it, I'm glad you're here.
hello! thank you for the comment. this is not currently a planned feature. this is because this game's story relies on the main character identifying as a cis female when she arrives to the reunion. genuinely, myself and the rest of the dev team empathize with your dysphoria, but this game is trying to tell a specific story about a specific character, rather than a self-insert.
but! we wanted to pass a few recommendations along that may strike your fancy:
- Blood & Play - this is a T4T dating sim being developed by one of the devs on this team, and you play as a trans man character
- Lookouts - this one gave me some fun genderfeels when i played it. be a gay lil transmasc cowboy!
- Marcus Comes Out Online - not a dating sim or romance, but there's a lot of transmasc feels here
though this is a small selection, i hope you can find something that tugs your heartstrings here.
this short article touches on that feeling i have, where the old internet isn't gone. it's been walled off. but walls can be broken down, or walked away from. the one niggle i have, the piece that feels absent in this is that you do have to actually go and do it - the walking away - which i have found is held in the imagination as an insurmountable step for many people that i talk to casually about this type of thing irl... food for thought. https://www.citationneeded.news/we-can-have-a-different-web/

hello again! if you enjoyed this manifesto - or this long thread of related recommendations - i cannot more highly recommend everest pipkin's Anonymous Animal: https://everestpipkin.itch.io/anonymous-animal
thanks so much gc!!
i really wanted to make a story that was aware of and concerned with the difficulties from being homeless, and how that would fit into a 'whodunnit' scenario. so often those stories are about rich people fighting over huge amounts of money, so there seems to be a gap when it comes to working class and poor folks (as protagonists) in the genre. i'm excited to finish it up!
i deeply enjoy reading blog posts like this, and this one provides a nice opinion breakdown of why 'browsing' for shows on apple (or in my opinion most online media companies right now) is unsatisfying and frustrating https://blog.zarfhome.com/2023/12/on-browsing
