- [Instructor] By default, the shape tools in Photoshop are vector-based, and the benefit of creating vector-based shapes is that they are resolution-independent, so you don't have to worry about their size. After you draw a shape, you can transform the shape as large or as small as you'd like as many times as you'd like, and they'll always maintain their quality. We can tap the u key in order to select the shape tool. There are a number of different shape tools. We're going to start with the Rectangle tool, then I'm going to right click in the Options bar in order to reset that tool. We are going to be drawing a shape. We don't want this set to path or pixels, and then we can select a fill color. I'll click in the swatch. We can fill this with none, with a swatch, with a gradient or with a pattern.
