- [Instructor] One of the lesser known features when using the crop tool is its ability to add canvas size around the image area. Now, before we start, I want to point out that we're working on a background. So if I tap the c key to select the crop tool, well I don't want the settings from the previous video. So I'm going to click on the reset icon and then I'll start dragging out the crop mark key. But you'll notice that when you first drag out the crop mark key, you're limited to the original canvas size. So I can't drag beyond here until I release the cursor and then I can go ahead and drag this out. But because we started with a background layer, Photoshop is going to fill the additional canvas area with my background color, and I don't want that. So I'll tap the Escape key. Then before increasing my canvas size, I'm going to convert the background to a layer by clicking on the lock icon. Then I'll hold down the Option…
