- Photoshop has a number of built-in, non-destructive effects like drop shadows and overlays, glows and strokes, which can be applied to a variety of different kinds of layers. We're going to start by adding a drop shadow to image one. I can choose layer and then layer style, and then select any of the effects from the list. Or we can use the effects icon at the bottom of the layers panel, and then choose our layer effect. In order to reset this, I'll use the reset to default. So on the left, we have all of the different types of layer effects. As soon as we select one of those, we can see the options on the right. So we can change the blend mode, we can click in the color swatch to change the color. We can also change the opacity of the drop shadow as well as the angle and the distance.
