- [Instructor] As your documents begin to contain more and more layers, sometimes those file sizes will grow to be quite large. So people are always looking for a way to reduce the file size, but unfortunately, the different ways that Photoshop has to merge layers or flatten images, also remove some of the flexibility. But let's take a look at them so you can decide for yourself. Now in the lower left, if you set the status window to document sizes, we can actually compare the size of the flattened image on the left, in this case, a little bit over 12 megs to the layered version on the right, which is over 70 megs. So the first thing we might want to try is cropping the image. If we have any layers, for example, the grape layers that extend beyond the canvas area, and we know that we don't want to reposition them, then I could do a quick select all using command A or using select all, and then I'll choose image and then…
