Using gradients to add color effects

- [Instructor] A quick and easy way to add a color wash over a black and white image is to add a new gradient fill layer. This image actually is an RGB image, it's not a grayscale image. If you're working with a grayscale image, in order to add color, you'll need to go to Image, Mode, and then convert it to RGB color. Now we can add a gradient fill layer using the Layer menu, New Fill Layer, and then Gradient. Or we can hold down the option key on Mac or the alt key on Windows, and from the bottom of the Layers panel, we can click on the new adjustment layer icon and then choose Gradient. The reason that we hold down the option or the alt key is to make sure that we can see this new layer dialogue so that I can change the mode from Normal to Color. Otherwise, Photoshop will just add a gradient on top of this flower, and it will hide the flower below it. All right, when I click OK, we'll get the gradient fill options.…
