Increasing canvas size

- [Instructor] One of the lesser known features when using the Crop tool is its ability to add additional canvas around your image. Now, before we add additional canvas, I'm going to convert the background into a layer so that, instead of filling the canvas that we add with the background color, Photoshop will add it with transparency around it. In order to convert the background to a layer, I'll simply click on the lock icon. Then, we can tap the C key to select the Crop tool. And in order to clear all of the options in the options bar, I can either right-click on the Crop tool and choose to reset the tool, or we can click Clear. I'm going to use Command + minus on Mac, Control + minus on Windows to zoom out. And then, I'll drag my crop beyond the original canvas area.
