Linked vs. embedded Smart Object

- [Instructor] Photoshop has the ability to place a linked or an embedded Smart Object. An embedded Smart Object has no connection with the original source image once it's placed into a Photoshop document. On the other hand, when you add a Linked Smart Object to a Photoshop document, that linked layer or layers are still connected to the original document. Let's take a look. I'm going to start by opening a new file. It's going to be 4000 by 2000 pixels at 300 pixels per inch and I'm going to go down to the advanced options and just change the color profile so that I add it in Adobe RGB. Then we'll create this new document and choose File and then Place Embedded. I'll navigate to the Lobster file in the 14 Smart Objects folder and then place that. You'll notice that this time I didn't get the transformation handles and that's because we turned off that preference in the last video. All right, with the Move Tool…
