Using masking to retouch portraits

- [Instructor] Camera Raw makes it easy to select a person or multiple people and make edits either globally or to individual elements, such as hair or teeth. I'll go ahead and select this portrait and then use Command + R on Mac, Ctrl + R on Windows in order to open it in Camera Raw. Then I'll click auto in order to create an auto-correction, make sure that my profile is set to Adobe Portrait. And then in the basic panel, I think I'll just bring down the shadows a little bit. I don't need to see quite as much information in the details of the jacket. To select the person, I'll choose the masking icon. And we can see that it's trying to detect or find people in this photo. When Camera Raw finds a person, it will automatically add an icon for that person here. If there were multiple people in the image, they would all have their own icon here.
