- Photoshop has a number of built in non-destructive effects including drop shadows and overlays, glows and strokes, which can be applied to a variety of different kinds of layers. I want to start by adding a drop shadow to image one. I can choose the layer menu, and then select layer style, and then choose from any of the styles on the list. Or at the bottom of the layers panel, we can click the effects icon and then select drop shadow. So over on the left hand side are all of the different effects, and when you select an effect, you see the options on the right hand side. Now, to make sure that we're all starting in the same place, I'm going to choose to reset this to the default. We can change things like the blend mode, or the color of the drop shadow, as well as the opacity. We can change the angle and distance, and we can do so by using these sliders, or we can just click in the image area in order to change both the…
