Sharpening images

- [Instructor] Three of the most commonly used filters in Photoshop are the Unsharp Mask, Smart Sharpen and High Pass filters. They're all used to help prepare images to look their best when they're printed or viewed on screen. We're going to take a look at these three filters to see when we might want to use one over the other. Now, when we're applying sharpening, we want to make sure that we view our image at 100%. So I'll use Command + 1 on Mac, Control + 1 on Windows in order to view at 100%. Then I'm going to convert my background into a smart object by right clicking and choosing Convert as Smart Object. I'm going to create two copies of this. I'll use Command + J to make one and Command + J again to make the second. And then we'll hide these two copies. Target the bottom layer, and I'll just rename it to USM for Unsharp Mask. Then under the Filter menu, I'll choose Sharpen, and then Unsharp Mask. We can see there…
